Are these Afghanistan native parents, or US soldiers? I'm guessing natives. I don't get how some people feel it's alright for their parents to raise their kids. Now, don't get me wrong, their are special circumstances and situations, but it seems like you hear it happening all the time. I can tell you my kids would be so spoiled if I left them at grandma and grandpa's for a month, it'd take 6 months to get them back to normal daily routines.
Sounds to me like both mom & dad are soldiers, and both got tagged for OUS duty at the same time which is not an unusual situation with today's reduced numbers of active duty personnel. I'd say that they are fortunate to have grandparents that are willing and able to step up and take the responsibility of being stand-in parents for the kiddos. Kudos to the parents for their service, and big time kudos to the grandparents too.
