There's hope for us Humans, an Early True Feel Good Christmas Story

Truly A Feel Good Story. How do I know it's true you ask, this happened to my Daughter in law Danielle & Grandson today.
Makes me happy to know there still is hope for us dumb ass humans after all.

Standing in line at Lowe's with our Christmas decorations. The man behind me asks Ayden who the Marine decorations are for, proudly he answers for Daddy! He then steps in front of me and says I'm going to pay for everything..... I'm in complete shock and stood there trying to gather that this really happens in life. I will certainly pay it forward. Standing in line sharing this moment with a complete stranger I shake his hand and begin to cry..... Hanging my decorations every year I will always remember this! Thank you!

Darn it, you made me get all weapy. I love our military so much that it doesn't take a whole lot.

I drove down to San Diego on the 23rd of October to see NTFDAY (Ken's) grandson graduate from Marine Boot Camp. There were six hundred and six brand new Marines standing at attention, with a huge Old Glory swaying gently in the breeze. It was almost more than I could handle. I didn't say anything to Ken or his daughter, but I was so proud of those fine young men that it wouldn't have taken much for me to bawl.

I'm the same way Tech - I get all teared up when I think of the young men and women who so willingly serve this country and as the OP said - it too gives me great hope that there are still a lot of great people out there. I've paid for meals occasionally when I catch a military/police/firefighter in a local coffee shop - not a big deal and it's usually met with a, "What do you want to do?" and I have to explain that I just want to pick up their tab. Interestingly enough when I ask a waitress that's 55 or older, they smile and get it right away - knowing exactly why I want to pay for a soldier or a first responders meal.

Yup - good post. We should all look for a soldier so we can express our gratitude for their service to this country.

Thanks Joe, a grand story of genuine compassion............not the phony compassion espoused by so many today who demand they be glorified for seizing someone else's earnings for their own aggrandizement. I'd bet that gentleman is one of so many former warriors who seek no personal glory but demonstrate gratitude from the heart when, how and wherever they can.

Damnnnn we have a bunch of old softies here, lol....
Yeah when I hear/see stories like this you can't help but feel good & does gives a little hope for our species.

i always try to greet and shake the hand of any soldier in uniform and say thank you .

I have been watching some of the Christmas shows on hallmark lately and they have been advertising the green light support for veterans day campaign. Definately worth a few buck for the porch light. I bought one on line but it was too big for my light, so off to get a smaller one. My oldest brother is a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. He worked as a mash surgeon over in both of those places. I support anyone who have served our country and fought for my freedom, while I have not!
