How did you hear this?
Thank You MrSpears. I did a quick search but it was fruitless. But then I didn't know he had a name like Justin...
Mike,
There's a bunch of coverage out there. I Googled "Big Chief Crash" - https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...0chief%20crash
I'm sure you don't want to hear what I have to say about illegal street racing, so I'll just be quiet on this one.
.
Our history says it took years for rodders to shake the degenerate image that had been pasted on them, now thru the "real tv" aka "staged TV" shows we possibly could get a new or previous image it so long to shake, there is no benifit to racing where they are, unloading full race cars off trailers while there is a local drag strip right around the corner (Thunder Valley) so they can race on roads the TV crews have shut down (or have staged police arrive) makes no since to me, other than the fame of being on TV, If anybody sees a reason I am up to hearing it.
I think most are watching it because -Like Me - you can't find any drag racing on TV!
And while they are not on a drag strip, they have an ambulance onsite and they are on a closed section. Detroit got scared because so many folks were showing up to watch and participate they canceled the permits thay had issued and closed down the racing.
I don't blame them.. (I'm surpriced they allowed it to go on at all!) but it does go to show these "street racer" types are not what they appear to be.
It's just another 'reality' show trying to give the illusion of illegal racing. I don't watch it because I can't stand all the bragging an posturing they do. They're just Kardashians with cars.
Sounds like another scripted show in reality format.
Reminds me of moonshiners. It could have been a nice drama, but they chose the reality format which cheapened the production.
Yep - Dallas Car Sharks, Graveyard Cars, Fast N' Loud, Misfit Garage. Every one of those seems to have a 'class clown' in the cast - who generally tries to be funny, but isn't. Bitchin' Rides is OK, but Kevin Schiele is a talented fabricator who tries too hard to be a comedian . . . and is woefully unfunny.
streetracing never died or even slowed down. we just outgrew it. the 405 has been racing forever . they do travel a lot too. the texas bunch squares off with them pretty regular. yes the show is somewhat scripted and they have permits to do it but those boys live to race. on the strip or off .
I'm sorry to hear he's hurt, but glad to hear he survived.
As far as the unreality format of the show goes, it's a necessary evil to get the cars and the racing on TV. Unless they are faking the outcomes of the races, the surrounding unreality is irrelevant.
I'm glad that the races aren't actually being held on open roads with no emergency personnel on hand...and I think they shouldn't be featuring Farmtruck and Azin's "fishing" exploits on open roads. On the other hand I'd love to see grassroots club racing on tracks or closed roads flourish nation wide.
