Barn Mouse Trap

If I posted this before my apology, but if not here's a few pictures of a Rube Goldberg Mouse Trap that's out in the barn.

It's an old five gallon bucket, a Coke can, an axle and a ramp. A coating of peanut butter on the Coke can is a mouse magnet, they run up the ramp and the distance from the rim to can is just a little too far to reach so they jump to the can and it quickly goes over center and dumps them into the bucket where there's a few inches of water & antifreeze. The place I saw it said that the antifreeze was enough attraction, but the peanut butter seems to work. So far I haven't seen tracks showing that a mouse has rolled the can like a log roller in the water. ;)

The current catch is pretty light, but a few days ago there were seven that tired of doing laps :LOL: Just a fun little sideline that happened to work. I think Rube would have liked it!

I have used one like this for several years in my lakeside cottage and also in my garage. If the peanut butter doesn't attract them, try some bacon grease on the can.

I've got 7 ferrel cats I feed every other day to keep em around, haven't seen a mouse in 3 years. Also no ground hogs. They sit @ the edge of the ground hog hole and ZAP no more. Fun 2 watch.

Heck with the mice, if you use bacon grease you might catch my fat rear in that bucket!

These traps work great! I may try the bacon grease. Sure cheaper than peanut butter anyway. Haha

Simple, cheap, and effective; I like it.

A small piece of peanut from chunky peanut butter pushed into the little hole on a trap gets em everytime! guaranteed!

One trap, one mouse (at best), others run amok. One bucket trap, one teaspoon of peanut butter, many mice, no reset, no attention needed.

I tried it once, didn't have any luck with it. Dunno what I did wrong.

Or simply, you don't have mice....

That is a great idea. I have a few extra mice in my shop and at my hunting camp. Think I know my project for next weekend.
