My VFW post 10558 continues its mission: to honor the dead by helping the living, the veterans their widows and orphans. This weekend my post built a 34 foot wheelchair ramp for a double amputee. The ramp is dedicated to Charles L McGaha, Medal of Honor recipient, and in commemoration of memorial day.
To all my fellow veterans, thank you for your service. Have a safe memorial day.
A national cemetery should be a "must visit" for every American. Having stood in the silence of Arlington (and several others) I've heard the cannons of war and the cries of anguish from those whose lives were sacrificed on behalf of this great nation. The mournful wail of a lone bugle followed by 21 shots fired in respect and honor hold a deep and sacred spot in my heart. The very thought brings tears to this old man's eyes.
My condolences and sincerest thanks to the families on this very site who have lost a loved one in while serving in the military.
God's grace and comfort to you all,
Glenn Sexton
I agree Glenn. I’ve been to the Arlington cemetery. I got to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. That is also a very somber and moving experience.
