    Hoss429 MIA

Hoss429/aka Willie Moon found me on LinkedIn and shared that he's been unable to log in to CHR since September, and that his attempt to open a new account failed. I contacted mrmustang/Bill, our World Moderator, and shared Hoss' story and referenced a gmail account that was on LinkedIn. Bill says there's no problem with Hoss' account, but that the email associated is an @summa.com address, not @gmail.

I shared back to Willie/Hoss via the @gmail and LinkedIn, and today he replied via LinkedIn saying 1) he cannot remember his CHR password, 2) the @summa.com account is no longer active, and 3) his email is an @MCHSI.com, and not the @gmail.com that is shown on LinkedIn.

I responded that it seemed to me that he needed to either 1) remember his CHR password, 2) reactivate the @summa.com email account so he can reset his password, or 3) figure out how to open a new account and abandon Hoss429.

This is why it's important to keep your profile info up to date, especially your email address if you for some reason change. When you need to fix something, the system responds via your email on record. If anyone needs to contact Hoss/Willie PM me your preferred email and I will send it to him, telling him that you'd like a reply.

    This you can forward

Or he can abandon the account, start a new one like "Hoss429-2" and post anew.

I have never understood why this forum is so picky about email addresses and passwords, It's NOT a top secret operation. We have have lost some good members because of this practice.

It's a matter of access, I as a moderator do not have access to that database.
If the owner of an account does not update their email address when it changes, and they forget their password, they have no way to reset it.
    Again it's not rocket science

It's happened to me at a few other forums/sites, went to sign on and realized I had forgotten the password.
And since I had moved and had a new internet service provider, my e-mail had changed. And I couldn't get to the old one.
Ebay for instance, I've had 4 or 5 different usernames/account there over the years. I don't see it as an issue, just come up with a new
"handle" or use the old one and add a suffix for instance. stuff happens right.

It seems that Hoss/Willie did set up a new account as 73PINTO, but failed to click the confirmation email that was sent which made the system assume he was a spammer or autobot trying to get access. Could be that the email went to a SPAM folder, or was simply overlooked. He's in Catch22 for now, nothing to do but wait.

When you see a post from 73PINTO know that's Hoss429 in new clothes!
