wonders if anybody ever tried winchin' the snowblower on there roof, as long as the roof is fairly flat of course. At Hunter mountian, The Learning Center, the smaller lodge in which I work at, has a self cleaning roof, it's really a metal roof with heat coils in it ( they turn them on when the roof ice starts to melt ) but, 1 of the ice drop offs is right in front of an exit, it's the exit that's right past where the deck ends, ( the deck has a roof so it's safe from ice drops, people below ain't ). It is a 7 million dollar building that is designed to function saftley in the winter, to OSHA, is an ice hazzard and certin precautions need to be taken when the ice drops. In the rental shop, we have 12 winches that hold 100 helmets each so, 1200 max, were running around 75% capacity this year because it's our first year to have over 100 helmets and these winches, they are boat winches, attached to a steel frame, a cable goes up to the celing, around a pully and a chain with hooks hang from that, the winches have no stops for reverse, they were removed, so, if you don't put it 1 click forward after letting the helmets down, there is a chance that, they might come down on there own.Quote:

This is Shaggy's wife the proud owner of the above car. It is my baby, a 1954 Chevy. It has the original 235 6 cyl. manual trans with a 3 on the tree. No power steering, no power brakes. A BEAR to drive sometimes but travels like a DREAM!!!!!!!!! If you don't mind thinking about your turn blocks ahead or shifting alot in traffic dreading the number of traffic lights ahead, LOL. My car has a grey brushed suede-like interior. I had it pin-striped inside and out. Too many trophies to count with this one but I still want "Overhaulin" to come steal it and make it into the 54 Chevy Jesse James and the "old timers" did on his show. It is lowered alot but I would like white and aqua tuck n roll leather interior, small block, auto tranny, disk brakes, kickin stereo, etc. I want to run with the "BIG BOYS"!!!!!!!!!!!!Quote:

I wouldn't have pictured it...hmmmm learn something new every day...so hmmmm...now i'm going to have to change my whole idea of what Matt does with his life...gosh this is gonna be hard, i'm not sure i can handle all this change...is there anything else I should be aware of??? :rolleyes: :pQuote:

I don't make it a career falling off roof. Bad footing coming down the ladder I got off kucky and only broke a couple ribs and my pride and among other things . Oh the boss let me know her opinion about me going up there by myself and it was very colorful too she must be hanging around to many truck drivers .:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:Quote:

the problem Shaggy Where I'm At It Doesn't Snow Well It Did This Year Just A Little But Was Gone By 10 00 That Was The First Snow In 25 Yrs And We Really Don't Get That Much Rain But This Year Well That All It Seem To Be Doing And To Think I Left Washington St To Get Away From That Stuff Yep I Have That Problem With Walking And Chewing Gum Too . Yes Shaggy's leap of faith off the roof gave me cause to give him a "word or two" as he laid on the couch in pain. Then the trip to the ER after that was enough to MAYBE teach him a lesson. Maybe!
I will post some pics of the Chevy in the gallery, it was featured in the Northern Rodder magazine a couple of years ago. Like I posted earlier, I want "Overhaulin" to come get it and turn it into a car like the 54 that I saw on Monster Garage when Jesse had all the old timers working. Now that was a beautiful 54!

Yes Shaggy's leap of faith off the roof gave me cause to give him a "word or two" as he laid on the couch in pain. Then the trip to the ER after that was enough to MAYBE teach him a lesson. Maybe!

I basicly work to fund my projects, mainly the '51 Chevy. I am a beginner/ intermediate snowboarder although, I have been trying for 3 years, and have only been out about 10 times total, I really, have no interest in it, I bought my own equip the 2 winters ago, at the season end, on the clearence rack at a Ski and Snowboard shop in Albany, I paid I think 250 or 300, maby 350 for the board and bindings, but it was a 450 dollar board and 70 dollar bindings, marked down, then the following year, I bought a cheap pair of boots. I thought I might actully take it up but, even though, I get free passes, it's more of a chore to get down the hill than it is fun. There is not much work around here, it is a resort area, 3 ski resorts in the area, Hunter Mtn, Whindham Mtn and Scotch valley, Hunter Mtn being the largest of the 3, the highest paying jobs are from Hunter Mtn, there really, the only place that pays good to students in high school, there are diners and restaraunts that hire but, most are all minimum wage. Working at a winter seasonal place works good for me to, as I have no garage and all the work that needs to be done to my cars has to be done when it's warm out, I was just out putting hold downs on my battery in my falcon because they did't come with the car and, there needed ( I'd have a big mess of acid if I left it alone ), the battery tray is heavily rotted so, I had to fix and mod that so, my replacement hold downs would work. I didn't think 25* was that cold but, it's cold enough when your hands are freezing to the bolt rods and hardware. Thanks for the visual Matt! Sounds like a decent job...I know that would save me a ton of money...all my boys are into snowboarding...it's expensive! Wish I got discounts ha ha!!! :rolleyes: :p
The pic is 1 of the backgrounds to the hunter mountian website, it's not really a pic, internet explorer considers it a background. aprox 75% of all high school students work at the ski resorts in my region ( like 15 schools ), I also forgot, theres 1 other ski resort, it's platterkill. All of these places are within 20 miles of my house, just to give you an idea of my region. There are actully people that do work like 1 day a week for the free use of the facilities, we can also go to any of the surronding mountians ( even a few in other states ) for free like whindam which, is hunters neighbor, it's only 7 miles away, there all in like a partnership thing, and that's why. I'm actully 3rd generation hunter mtn employee, my grandfather worked at hunter, 1ce in the 80's then, from 1995 until 2004, my mom and dad met whail working lift operations at hunter in like 1982. My brother started in 1999 and, I started in 2002.
I'm getting ready to paint my 48 and can't decide either. The wife wants pearl white and I want either purple or bright yellow. I scratch the damn thing almost every time I work on it and am afraid to paint it. I for one think your rod should be flat black! I would go with flat black but its so dog gone hot here in Charleston SC even with A/C. Good luck!
