While we're waitin' for Dano to decide to come back to the keyboard and challenge the "KERDS", here's one to test your knowledge of vintage tin. This one has a couple of custom touches, but is still very recognizable. I've actually owned a couple of these, one with a Studebaker V8 in it. So, make, and year, and for bonus points size and type of engine.
I'm back KURD. :D Had yard work calling my name and seems how it might rain tomarrow I figured I'd go dig up my sprinkler system. I still need to fix the shitter. That's why I have 2, right? :D
OK- Man you know how to pick 'em don't you. Wellll I'l say a '40 Ford PU with a Caddy front bumper and Studebaker rear Fenders. I'm not to sure what the hell the hood lip trim is but it could be from a Chevy or another Caddy?

Don't even tell me that's a Caddy Pickup... I've heard rumors there was one and did see one but I thought someone had built it.

Oh DUH, yeah it could be a Hudson too. Never thought about that. Those years of pickups are real hard to tell apart simply by the body lines. At least to the uneducated eye anyways... :rolleyes:

The truck would be a '46 or 7 Hudson pickup. 128" wheelbase. The front sheetmetal, doors, cowl, and all that attaches to it are identical to the passenger cars. The rear fenders are the passenger car pieces with factory added strips to fill the gaps to the flat bedsides. This truck has most of the correct trim retained. This particular one does in fact have a mid '50's Cad front bumper, and some Appleton style spot lights added. Anyone going to take a stab at engine style and size?

Without looking under the hood I'd guess it has a 350 sbc not the flathead six that came in it from the factory.

There's more Caddy pickups than you might think. They were used as flower cars for funeral homes.They were custom bulit by the companies that made hearses.

dano I didnt have to look that up on the net as when I lived in Grants Pass, Ore. back in 72-77 there was a guy that drove one around town.

Brother Al, you may be right about this particular truck having a Chev, but I don't know for sure since I only plucked the pic off the net. The engine compartment is big enough to swallow just about anything. You are correct, however, about the original engine being a six. A flathead of 232 ci. Kind of a weenie engine for a truck rated at 3/4 ton! Probably the most frequent swap I've seen done is to put a 308 Hornet six in there (gotta keep that Hudson all Hudson). But besides the Stude in the '41 I had, I've seen several SBC's, a 440 Morepower, and a BIG BLOCK BOB is now in the '47 I had.
Spray, I'd be happy to give you the '56, but you'll have to make a trip back to Oregon to wrassle it away from the gal that owns it now. And unless you can twist 'em like Goldberg, my money's on her!:LOL:
