I just watched the news, and not only is Ken facing a couple of hurricanes in Hawaii, but we have a couple breathing down our back too! They won't know much more til Sunday, but there are some things going on in the Atlantic. :(
I gotta start keeping up on world events. Dan and I built his 455 Olds engine by generator and flood lights after Hurricane Charlie........don't want a repeat of that.
Don
How many generator parts made it into the Olds motor LOL
Brad
We won't know till we try to fire it up! It was kind of weird to be doing that, but after the hurricane passed we had no power at the shop, so Dan and I were sitting around the house bored. We were trying to make Daytona (that year too :o ) so we hooked up my little generator and ran some halogen flood lights off of it and proceeded to build his 455. It wasn't ideal, but ya do what ya gotta do! :DQuote:

Even if you try and miss the date you are going to have fun with your son, and that will be more memorable than any street rod event. besides your T will hold two people. :D
Hello, I was curious if you have passed the $3,000 mark yet? I was reading through this post to try and find out, but that is alot of pages
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa:D :D :D :D :D Oops!!! Sorry Don----Quote:

I gave up on that premise part way in. Long story that I've repeated a few times, but basically I started to like the car too much and wanted it to be better. I have no idea where I am right now, in all honesty......Probably $ 12 K, but that is just a guess.
However...............I do have a Model A cowl and doors, and some '35 Ford wire wheels, and am planning on ACTUALLY doing another project as soon as this one and the '39 Dodge are done. I promise to stick to the $ 3K thing next time. :o
Thanks for asking though. (Darned Brian let the cat out of the bag :3dSMILE: )
Don
PS: Welcome aboard by the way.
Hey Don, that's only 9 over budget, about the same as most of mine go!!!! You don't even wanna know what we have in old Merc #2 right now!!!!! But hey, ya tried and it certainly has made for a most interesting and informative thread!!!
For the newbs to Hot Rodding and at CHR, this thread and Brians RPU thread are probably THE 2 most informative threads you could ever care to read anywhere on the 'Net!!! They are both long, but well worth your time!!!!!
Thank you Dave. How about one from you on building a glass Merc? That one I would love to see. :)
Don
Well, we the ordeal I've been through on those cars, I'm afraid some of the words would be unacceptable on a public forum!!!!!!!:o :oQuote:

Well, as long as you say "eh ?" after each one, you are probably ok.
Don

Dave is 100% correct.

Yeah, but if I don't hold the record for stringing those words into a sentence I'm at least in the top 3   :p
I'm still driving the roadster pickup 7 days a week, and still going to the "cruise nights" locally. We recently lost our best cruise night spot, as the mall where we held it every Saturday night for the last 20 years has been sold, and the new owners don't want the liability of all them "high powered racecars" (his words) on their property, so---we have moved our act up to the A &W---the root beer folks. I actually won the coveted "A&W employees pick" this past Saturday night, and was awarded the goofiest damn brown, white, and ORANGE hat that you ever seen, and a gold "cruisin the Dub" tie pin.---I look enough like that damn bear already, without wearing the hat!!!
I broke the language barrier a few months back . Maybe on the next one i will know more as not to yell out obsenities.
I never swear or Lie.
Brad
Wow lightning just hit near the house, I better be careful what I say. LOL
Today's top news bulletin... Man was struck by lightning while sitting at the family computer on a hot rod website. The mans name was Brad and he lived in Sparta Ohio.
Now for today's weather.....
he he he :p
As Uncle Bob would say........"we have a picture of that!!"

Don
Did you have permission to use that picture??? Hate to have to buy your car for you to make bail.:D
Ron
Uh, picture, what picture??
Don
Good news Don, I don't have to have the pacemaker replaced yet. It wasn't a low battery alarm, the PM couldn't find my heart led thats all, they reset it now I'm back in business. Any update on painting the body. I know your working on the other sons car, but don't let this get away from your dead line.
Brad
That's fantastic Brad. What a relief for you. I know when I've gotten good news like that it's like the best gift in the world. I'm really happy for you. :) :)
No, I still have some things to do, but they shouldn't be very hard to finish up in time. I figure Dan and I will get him to the point where his car has all the tough stuff done and he will have a shot at getting it finished up by November, then I'll get back on mine.
Don
Thanks Denny, I thought my bunny gave up because it was giving me an alarm that sounded like a truck backing up. All my customers that week freaked everytime it sounded. They say the battery is good for another year, that will make nine years since install.
Brad
I'll pitch in to help post bail if they got Don over pic . LOL
I'll chip in $5 and a pair of old shoes.
It's been a week since Don's last post...:HMMM: Do you suppose he's in the slammer for copyright violation??
This place isn't the same without him, talk to us Don.
Hehe, no, they tried to nail me, but I blamed it on senility. Works every time. :D :D
Haven't had much to post, been working on the Kids T. Last night I got his floor and seat risers all glassed in, and the night before I got his new wheels painted. He went with Ford Grabber Blue, and I have to admit it is not too shabby. His T is coming along really well. Dan just has to weld in the battery box and a couple of brake tabs before we can prep and paint it. (Yep, I'm back to glassing and painting again  ) Don works 5 days a week and plays 6 nights a week, so he gets little time to come help. He and I are going to hit on it hard tomorrow.......he's off.
I took some pictures of the wheels, but I somehow lost my new camera that Dan bought for me. I really am upset at myself for doing that, and don't know how I did it. Took the pictures, put it back in the case, and when I got home I realized I didn't have it. I've torn up the house and shop, but can't find it anywhere. I'm going back to the shop tonight to do some more glassing and look again.
As for my T, now I can get it outside to finish painting it. Don sold his Capri and moved all of his household stuff from his portion of the shop, so now I can get it out the door. Just have to spot putty some places and prime once more before I shoot it with black.
I do have a little mechanical glitch to clear up.......I noticed a small spot of engine oil dripping down from the timing cover. It didn't happen right away, and I don't know if the crank seal has just not seated yet, or if it is because I bought a chrome cover. I have heard bad things about aftermarket chrome covers, so maybe that is what is going on.
My starter is still giving me some issues. Last night I went to start it for a friend of my Son's who stopped over, and it was grinding. Not sure if it was due to a low battery or that I need to check the shimming again. For it being a pretty costly gear reduction starter I shouldn't be having all of the problems I have had with it. For years I have just bolted on an AutoZone quality starter and they worked flawlessly.
So, if I find my camera I will at least be able to post some pictures again. Thanks for wondering about me..........now, if you will excuse me, I have to see if I can get this electric ankle bracelet off. :D
Don
I FOUND MY CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D Dan must have picked it up by mistake because we both have exactly the same camera and black case. It was lying on the kitchen counter when I just went in there. What a relief. :) :)
Anyway, here are the wheels I painted for Don's T a couple days ago. He is a Mustang fan, and loves Mach I's, so he is painting it Grabber Blue. I really had to do little more than scuff them, Coker sells Wheel Vintiques and they were nice right out of the box. We slipped on a hubcap and trim ring later on, and they look good dressed out.
Don
Don---I admire the work you do, and as I was setting here reading your post, I wondered if you were going to get your car on the road before the cold weather comes, and rodding stops for the winter. Then I remembered---Your in Florida, aint ya. Lucky guy!!!
I know how losing things goes, Don... Lost my glasses today, looked all around the shop for them, no luck.... Finally found them about 15 minutes later hanging from that little chain thing around my neck that attaches to the earpieces on my safety glasses!!!!!!!!!   :LOL:Quote:

Thanks Brian. Yep, down here we PRAY for winter. Went to the shop this morning to help Don load his Capri onto the trailer of the guy who bought it, and within 15 minutes I was soaked.
Dave, I do that kind of stuff all the time, and the older I get the more often it happens. I'm afraid if I start doing really goofy stuff the guys in the little white coats will give me a one way ticket to the home.  :whacked:
Don
I've allready been to the home and have a room picked out......    :LOL:Quote:

My garage is only 20 paces out the back door, as long as I stay on the sidewalk I usually make it ok!!!! Been thinking about tyeing a rope from door to door though!!!! I was out at my pal Dave T's shop last night, said g'night and went out to get in the car and go home....couldn't find it.....went back in and everyone was laughing their butts off----seems I'd rode out there with Bill!!!!!!:whacked: :whacked:Quote:

Just had my IV and monthly checkup last month. My Doc, cruel woman that she is, said I was in great shape for someone my age, IF my age was 92!!!!!!   Great shape for me means I haven't had one of them dang mini strokes in over a year!!!!!!  :LOL:Quote:
