    700R4 / Ford 8" gears

     



    Hi All! I'm putting a fresh 700R4 in my 32 coupe with a Ford 8" rear end. What is the end overdrive ratio in this trans? Any suggestions on what gears to run so the highway RPM's would be somewhere around 2000? It's too hard to find good gears for these, other than 3.00, so I'll probably just get new ones from Richmond. Thanks!

    gear ratios 4 the 700R4: 1=3.06, 2= 1.63, 3=1.00, 4=.70 hope that helps.

    Heh Heh Heh! You guys! Thanks all! Richmond Gear website has a table that's really easy to use to figure out final RPM's etc. Check it out!

    This is an old thread but so far noone used the site:

    That allows you to estimate rpm in the gears as well as mph versus rpm and an accurate way to calculate the tire size.

    Streets, humorous as usual, since it is now 12:00 here I guess his name is High Noone! I am just sitting here waiting for parts and taking a day off from the rather strenuous work of building a 20'x16' sun room on the back of our house with an added 10'x10' screened porch here in the land of Spring-Summer mosquitoes. This activity has really cut into roadster-building, but I found a guy who will change my rear gear to better match my 700R4 so that will be a major step soon. I really want to have a car to go to summer events, but I don't think I can get it all together this summer, but hopefully once this sun room is done I can put a lot more time on the roadster.
