Well - I do have to admit, you will be easy to find in a parking lot. Looks really nice.

Now, that run - a razor blade held at abut 90* to the surface and slowly skinning off the surface will often do the job. Try not to let it chatter or dig in. Round the corners with sand paper so it wont dig. If you have CC icicles (drools) those too can be removed the same way. Trying to sand a run will often leave a raised hump of CC while you go to through to BC (or worse:CRY:) on either side. There are also some very small special files that you can use, but while the CC isn't fully cured (15-30 days+/-), the razor works best.

To cut and buff - 1000 to 2000 (or 3000) wet and dry, Presta 1500 then Swirl Remover used with an 8-9 inch buffer at no more then 6-700 rpm. I do like the Meguires foam pads, but you need two or three different. I also like the Schlegel wool pads.

Thanks for the tip on the drools / icicles, I got rid of a few on the hood and then found one on the cowl..:( I went over the hood sides as it looked like the clearcoat just didn't flow... Since I had to clean up some drools anyway, I scuffed it and reshot it. This time I gave it a good wet coat and when I left it was looking better.

Dave are you saying I need to sand the car with the 1K, 2K, 3K paper? Wet is preferred? Where can I find this Presta 1500? Is it something just paint shops have? OH GOODY.. Shopping for another power tool! :LOL::3dSMILE:

Been building the 67 14 years HA , in final sand since October . Shot the floors last year . I drive it around the neighbor hood but hasn't been plated yet .

I was all set to paint this one in October! But then, something didn't look right or the alignment wasn't just quite so, or, something always needed another round of sanding or.......... add in your excuse...:3dSMILE::LOL:

I finally just got sick of it all and decided to spray it and get 'er done! If the state likes the paperwork and gives me a VIN this year, I'll be emissions exempt! That's why the push! I know I "cheated" some by painting it assembled but, it is now a time issue, I hear everyone is rushing their papers to the state! I hope to get ahead of a few guys.:LOL:

Mike - the amount of orange peel depends on how coarse you need to start. I did mine with 1000 to 2500(not all have that grit) then did the Presta. Meguires has similar and is my alternate to that Presta. Yes, you should be able to find Presta and the pro level Meguires at an auto body supply - and sticker shock applies. Oh and 3m paper, it will wear much faster then the Norton and Mirka is better yet if you can find it locally

Now, buffers - I use mine for dual purpose, so I found this Hitachi - also currently in the sticker shock area, though I did find mine at a new product bargain price. I do have to warn you - those sanding muscles of yours - they'll be bigger as this thing with a Velco pad and wool buff is about 9 very heavy pounds after about 2-3 hours.

Mike, if your sanding muscles get bigger, that's a good thing!! You need some big "guns" to hang out the window of a car like that when you're cruisin'!:cool::cool: The trick is to keep your "table muscles" from expanding....:LOL::LOL::LOL:

The color looks really nice out in the sun! If you and Dave park your cars side by side it will light up that side of the country!:D:D

Dave, as always, thanks for the information! :D I need to heal up a bit and since I've got to work next week in Buffalo, NY I won't find that tool until I get back. Randy, the only muscle I want to exercise is the right foot smashing the little pedal to the floor! :eek::3dSMILE::LOL:

Here's what I got done today. Got the hood on and cleaned the shop! While installing the hood I dropped one of the nuts and no matter how I searched - It's gone! Back out to the store..:mad: :mad: Bought 3 just in case! :LOL:

It's nice to have the shop cleaned and back to it's old self, what a mess I made of it!! **):LOL::3dSMILE: When I was leaving I noticed a fisherman sitting on a pole watching the pond.. :3dSMILE::LOL:

Mike and since you have been working out don't stop now this mustang is ready for 600 now . I have 2 panels done :( and I know how you and Dave feel . Paint spec and sealer only call for 400 so I may step back . :CRY:

Bobby - I actually finished mine for paint with 800 W/D. I HATE sanding scratches!!

The paint system is Nason they call for 400 wet or dry so I went one more with the 600 wet and am using there sealer . I don't like them little scratches swelling up either .

NASON is fine - it's DuPont's "economy" line but after using it, just think it's the same stuff with a different label. I don't really care for the clear tho

Never shot this but my supply store said it will do great . So will give it a whirl .

Little dress up for the Nail. Not much happening yet found out I like the garage door open more when I work bigger jobs .
