While I can toss pebbles now, my real motivator to complete mine so quickly was the State of Mass.! With the new rules coming into place in 2012, cars like mine will be so difficult to deal with, rodding as we know it is over I think! I had to beat that deadline and get my car in and grandfathered. (Their term too!) Since the car is now grandfathered, it doesn't need to meet the Year of Manufacturer (YoM) emmisions which in this case would be 2011!

In April 2012, "Assembled Vehicles" can only use a "certified manufacturer" drivetrain. That means the motor / transmission / rear axle have to be an assy from a late model vehicle with OBD 2 capabilities! The vehicle assembled from it will also need the plastic emmision stickers from the original vehicle in place! Oh, and if you want to change the rear axle, you need to stay within 3% of the original ratio! There's a lot more to it also but as you can see, I did NOT want to be a part of that! Hence the big push to get mine into the system.

So I guess I should thank the State of California for setting the standards for all these other states to follow...**)**):(:(:mad::mad: for they really did push me into beating the deadline! Oh Yes.. SIGH........;)

If all goes according to plan, mine should again be drivable on Thanksgiving. The weather will probably conspire against that plan, but.....

Well, to actually create that spreadsheet would take away much creative time from working on my car.....but suffice it to say there are some definite differences in available project cash, usable workspace, limited times when noisy work can be done, having to make a living, etc, etc, etc but I'm not jealous, just envious!;):3dSMILE:

I think we got the header issue figured out back in '07. We've tackled many issues since then.....including some of yours, Mike!:eek::D

My issues are another matter entirely! :3dSMILE::eek::whacked:

I've already taken mine apart to replace the coil over shocks that were leaking. Seems a dozen years in the same position (for the most part) allowed the rods to rust/corrode, now I start driving it and the rods passing through the seals have done the damage, I knew it was coming as I saw the rust when I first picked up the chassis.

Shocks and spring selection has turned into a mind bender with so many choices / measurements / angles / opinions and much more. That's okay as I had to have an appraisal done for the insurance company. It came in at 30K! :D:) so I was happy!
The appraiser even used the terms "professional assembler" and "quality components", I was looking around and over my shoulder to see who else was in the room! :LOL::o:cool:

Actually, I spent the day tending to some matters on my daily driver 66 F100 shortbed.
I finally found a pretty straight bed at an OK price so I bought it. It was delivered here on Tues. (btw if you need to ship anything, check into uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Cars or Moves . They delivered the bed to me from northern Cal to SoCal far cheaper than I could go after it myself). I had posted my damaged bed (caused by the sleeping driver who smacked my truck last year) on craigslist. A guy bought it with intentions of repairing it for his '64 F100 shortbed. Anyway, he came to pick up the bed tonight. Now my truck is bedless....looks kinda naked:HMMM: but it's easy to see everything when you're in reverse. Tomorrow I hope to weld up a couple of un-needed holes in my new bed, undercoat it and mount it on my truck. No, it's not the '37 but it is somewhat vintage and still gives me some car status on CHR....it also adds to the further bastardisation of this thread....:eek::LOL::LOL::LOL::3dSMILE:
