So, it's YOUR fault!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:
I guess if the shoe had to fit.................. http://www.freesmileys.org/emoticons...onster-002.gif
Ok, after all that prep work on my bed on Saturday, I planned to install it on Sunday but it rained all day. That's kinda unusual for SoCal but whatever. It was clear and sunny this morning so on with the show....
Nobody was around to help me today so I had to figure out a solo route. Here's what I came up with:
I rolled the standing bed on my flat dollies over near my garage, brought it down flat and let it rest on a 5gal bucket. I pulled out my cherry picker and slid under it. I cut a 4x4 to 71.5" to fit under the bedrails and lag-bolted a piece of chain to it. I extended the cherry picker to attach to the chain and lifted the bed. I backed the truck under it and slid everything into place and lowered the bed onto the truck. The rest was easy. I bolted it down, hooked up the taillights, added the tailgate and she was ready to go!
I still have to drill holes for the side trim then prep the bed for paint but as least I have it mobile again. :3dSMILE:
I was wondering how you were doing that! LOL.. And thanks for the pix!
Thats how I have mine planned Randy, only two straps run diagonally across the bed to the stake pockets / cherry picker for a rear tank install, want to get the tank out of the cab.
It worked really well, Rich. I wouldn't mind getting my tank out of the cab too but I don't want the filler tube in the middle of the bed or cut a hole in the side. One guy on a Ford truck forum found a tank from a salvage yard that filled from the rear. He was able to use a pull-down license plate like some of the 60's-70's cars. He has no idea what the tank came out of though.
First off Happy Thanksgiving to everyone . I had to catch up on a zoom of 4 pages since I posted . I have a truck that I am messing with sorry to say just not a vintage one .
Dave the 71 would be nice to cruise but I think momma will behead me , see in the last 2 weeks I picked up a new one and been slightly nervous I told her on Facebook Big Mistake Very Big LOL .
Randy you really found a sweet deal on that bed , but most that are inland correct me if I am wrong are rust free . The beds near the salt air rust like anywhere right ?
Lurker Loo I like that :) But I have been tinkering around . Ford right now is working a lot of 7 day weeks . Matter of fact I just came off a 10 day run .
OT but here but to give a insight .
8 years ago I started this one

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Bobby! And to all my Friends Here!
Love the color on the pickup! Reminds me of mine! Are you sleeping with one eye open? I hope she gets over it soon! Xmas is coming! You better make it up to her !!
Just curious over here but... You really do plan on finishing one of them right??**):):D:D
Later, Lucky Loo!
Happy Thanksgiving guys!!! Hope it's a special one for all of you!
Bobby-great to see you checking in. Nice trucks! Those things make mine look tiny! Yes, the salt air can cause rusty beds if you're located too close to the beach. I guess the desert is the best place to find the rust free stuff. Not exactly sure where my new bed spent most of it's life but I bought it from a guy up near Sacramento. That's pretty far away from the beach. :D
Here's a bit of news - my neighbors that live closest to my garage are going to be gone this weekend. That means I hope to run a few more power tools on Friday & Saturday which also means I will hopefully have some progress pics to post by Monday!!:D:D It's about freakin' time!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!! You guys are great!!:D:D
