Hey, Itoldyouso, Those spacers are great
Finally cooled off enough here that I could work on the truck. Put on the carb spacers, got the carbs refreshened and then turned around. They now face forward so I can get to the idle circuits adjustments on the primary.
Ain't it funny that you always forget something when you start the days project. Like I forgot that all my old fasteners needed replaced. Also that I needed new fuel line. As you can see I still need to move the fuel log and make new lines to the carb. The old ones are still hanging on the drivers side.
Anyway had to stop and run to Atlantic to pick up those items.
I used my old distributor and wires for the trial fitting cause I didn't want to have to break my new ones if I didn't get the desired clearance. I think those 2 inch spacers you turned me onto are perfect. Thanks Don.Duane S

Great looking Duane, I've always loved a 3x2 since my corvette get good mileage running on a 2 barrell, but still had power when you opened it up..... my problem was the foot was stuck to the floor and was running all 6 lol

When I had my tripower goat, I would start it with the pedal to the floor, so that when it fired up there was no mistaking that "whoosh" of the three deuces. When you are 21 and want to impress people at the drivein restaurant, you do dumb things like that.

Don, I'd never do anything like that. Yeah, right. It is fun to lay into in 2nd gear and the right rear tire goes up and the carbs sing that song.
Man, I love it when everything comes together!!! Outside working on the truck and all of a sudden it starts pouring rain. Yeah, rain was in the forecast and we need it, but it was supposed to be over and done with by 8 AM. Didn't start til 12:45 PM.
Like they always say "If you don't like the weather in Iowa, stick around a little and it'll change".
Checked the radar on line and it doesn't look like it's going to last more than a half hour so I can get back at it.Duane S

The finished product, well almost. I still have to shorten the choke cable.
Took the monstrosity gas pedal I had gotten a long time ago, shortened the base, hung it upside down, and then made a new cable pull arm. Worked pretty slick and it's next to the brake pedal instead of pointing off to the right so as to fit in the cab. (made it a pain to drive that way)Duane S

more, I accidentally got an old pic in the first batch. This is a test.
Tomorrow I get to play with my new toy. I bought a 2 horse electric chain saw. There are hedges and volunteer mulberry trees growing wild on the east side of my lot. I was always told that the were half on my lot and half on the neighbors (absentee owners at that) . Had a survey done and found out they are all on my lot, so, hasta leugo, hasta la vista, bye bye. That should even help my alergies, too.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 07-13-2007 at 02:24 PM.

Since I am a computer illerate and can't find the post where Don (Itoldyouso) brought up these carb spacers here is the link to them:http://www.vintagespeed.com/
They not only have the spacers, but have Rochesters and Stromberg carbs, both regular and tripower style (ie: center and end carbs) available and at very interesting prices.
I think I could have saved a lot over scrounging, buying one rebuilt, plus rebuild kits for the scrounged ones, and then buying the Speedway tri-power conversion kit. JMHOLast edited by Oldf100fordman; 07-13-2007 at 07:48 PM.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
