a new kind of hot rod

went on a quad rally this weekend up here, 140 to 150 quads bikes etc go on a 50 mile circut on backroads off road and through trails in the hills. nothing a good rally car wouldnt handle
I took my 500 cc dirtbike and it was a blast :toocool:
Some guys were in the gator style 2 person things and a couple of those polaris buggies also went.
I watched these things and thought i have a use for my other bucket body build a lightweight frame,rollbar,small v8 or a inline 6 3 spd auto some kind of good sturdy front suspension , 32 inch rear tires with a spool. wouldnt weigh much petty durable . A off road t bucket :)

why not just take a weed whacker to a VW , put on some dirt tires and viola:D

For those who may not be aware of it, the offroad and "sand toy" craze is running rampant here in the southwest.....and in other areas of the U.S.

I hear that on long holiday weekends, that the Glamis Dunes near the California-Arizona border have 300,000-400,000 campers. They bring dirt bikes, ATCs, Quads, Utility vehicles, 4X4s, and sand rails.

Sand rails are top-o-the-heap, with many being V8s, some turboed or blown, so "rooster tails" are everywhere. Events include hill climbs, drags, multicar caravans through the dunes, and of course much "jumping" and "wheelies". Chrome, custom paint and custom upholstering are common, as are stereo systems, GPS systems, phones, lighting for night use, etc. Some of these are even licensed for street use. We occasionally see them on the streets or in desert areas around tucson.

It's not your Myers Manx anymore! (though they are still offered) This rail has an injected 598 Chevy!

who could ask for more , camping , family fun , and burnin up the desert..
my kids and i have a lot of fun just playing on a sand bar with the four wheeler and the occasional mud hole!:D

how bout an 85 - 4 door slammer buick jacked up with 25 inch wheels on it ? there are a ton of then around here and they come complete with a sterio worth more than the car ? cutting one of them up should not be a problem and i think in most cases it would be considered a public service:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:
