When it's finished, that poor 'maro will be one fast, lightweight street machine....and the best part is you'll never pull up to a stop light beside one that looks just like it!!!!Quote:

Don't sell that Camaro ! I can't wait to see it when it's DONE
I'd like to finish it, sure am planning on it... But if someone comes by that wants it more them me (aka offers enough $$$$$) that baby is history!!!!   :LOL:Quote:

Guess I don't understand why more people aren't building these 82-89 (or whatever year they changed). They're light, cheap, and tons of them around!!! I suppose the funky rear suspension scares a lot of them away, but all the parts are available on the aftermarket to make them work right and be strong enough to take some horsepower.... I'm probably getting a bit carried away on this one, pretty much business as usual around here, but a stock bodied version with an updated rear end would make a nice platform for most any size chebbie you would want to put in it......
Dave tons of guys build them GEN III 1982 TO 1992 Camaro's . I have many friends at Third gen Camaro that I buy parts from and talk cars . The biggest problem is there 7 1/2" rear ends . I did hear about a 9 bolt ? Rear end that is in the 90s Camaro's . That 9 bolt ? Is the stronger rear end . And some had a Dana 44 . Like I said before 375 hp and up will turn a 7 1/2" rear end in to DUST .
Good to hear somebody's doing them... not many at all around here. Like I said, I think they would make a great platform for a go-fast build!!!!!Quote:

I bought a 7 1/2" Posi unit and the 3.42 gear set out of a 1985 Z-28 . I heard there was a shortage of Posi's in the mid 80s ? . The price was right so I picked it up .
Highjack?????
Long time no see . Now that your here ! How would you build an engine for this 1973 Nova ? ? :HMMM:Quote:

Let's get back on track with that 1973 Nova
those are 3500? whaa????
That ones lighter with that 1970 front end .
The 5.0 ford engine ,into the miata ,is becoming a more popular swap .......kinda like modern sunbeam tiger....
I would like to do one ,but live in californi, soo no streetability makes it a exspensive toy.
The engine in that car is impressive in stock trim ,a little upgrade to 350 375 hp and i image they are hand full.
I have seen some vids on youtube or google that showed impressive road course handling with this set up....I will look for the vid ,the miata was passing porches and ferraris no problem...
to bad the miata is girly car

The 5.0 and the ls1 bolt under the stock hood ,it cant be all bad
I will still maintain that you do not NEED 500 HP to go in the mid 12s either.
Here are some calculators that reflect weight and HP to validate that-
ET-MPH-HP Calculator
Drag Performance Calculator
HP/ET Calculator
TCI - TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Racing Calculators
Before you dismiss that- here are some real world mild Novas that run mid 12 and none have 500HP.
1971 Chevrolet Nova 1/4 mile Drag Racing timeslip specs 0-60 - DragTimes.com near stock 355
1972 Chevrolet Nova 1/4 mile Drag Racing timeslip specs 0-60 - DragTimes.com using a ZZ4 w/ 355HP
1970 Chevrolet Nova 2 Door 1/4 mile trap speeds 0-60 - DragTimes.com another mild 355
1971 Chevrolet Nova ss 1/4 mile trap speeds 0-60 - DragTimes.com a 400 on pump gas
would i be in that category ? :D:D:D:D
No Looks like you didn't Make it   Your at Least 50ci to short :(Quote:

Man I like how you built that Chevy II :) it's COOL
yeah well, me and dad built it together but i didnt get enough say in it. gave it to me for graduation but still to me it feels like his car. that why i wanna build this 63 that my uncle has sitting into a gasser. so i can ahve a car that'll feel like my car.
so to get into the mid 12's i dont need to have a ton of hp, how much do i need?
with 3500 lbs? probably around 400 horse maybe less,
