I always disconnect the battery in my cars when i'm not using them, I have found that it helps keep the battery up longer. I had an aftermarket digital radio that kept the presets even if the battery was disconnected for a month. I just put in a new radio and it looks like it looses the presets. What can I do? is there a way to put in a 9v battery backup or something? Thanks!
I am sure you could use a back up battery....Why not use a battery "tender" I think thats what there called. Just plug up your extension cord and everything stays charged. I dont know but is it better to leave the battery connected or disconnect for storage. Some thing about rust setting in faster when there is no charge in the car????
When I asked the radio manufacturer that's what they suggested too, but with any old car I feel more comfortable with the power shut off with the old wiring, even with it in good shape. I would think there's a way to hook a 9v battery to it to keep the memory or something....

Hook a 9 volt battery to a cigarette plug. Plug it into the cigarette socket and it will back feed the system and keep the radio presets.

I like the cigarette plug idea.
If you put 12 V to a 9v battery it could ( potentially ) explode the battery.
