The clock in my '51 Chevy works some of the time if I wind it up, if I can get it to work, sometimes it will keep time for a few hours, but it dosn't always work.. I know I can probably fix it or have it fixed, but how do I get it out?

I'd think it would be held in by a metal strap across the back and secured with a couple of 11/32 or 3/8 nuts. I don't remember if yours is in the middle of the dash or above the glove box but either way they're a pain to get to.
it's in the middle of the dash, right above the radio/speaker, which is in the way also. oh well, I have to fix that too.
If the radio isn't working it's probably the vibrator. If that's the case I'd say the points are burnt or stuck. If it's bad tubes it might be a challenge to find new ones. Let me know as I have a couple of old tubes around here someplace.
I have gotten it to turn on twice and static came thru the radio when it did, I think it would have gotten reception if the antenne was hooked up. I think it not always working would be the vibrator right?
Yes, if it doesn't power up it's generally an indication of a bad vibrator. They make a bit of a hum when operating.Quote:

Sounds like a good price to me as yours has points inside and they do have a tendency to burn.Quote:

I guess if I set it to 12.00 and only check the time at 12, I can forget it's broken:LOL:Quote:
