would this engine work?

I am looking to bui.ld a SB 350 here are the part i have 64 cc heads, oem steel crank, 4 bolt block, energizer 300H cam, cast flat top .030 pistons, Holly 750 vacume secondary, K&N air filter ACCEL supercoil, bosch platnum +4 plugs, Aluminum intake (sorry I don't have any info on it yet), pink rods, stock oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, and distrubeter, I am wondering if Claimer 202 162.5 valves are any good and Z28 valve springs.
I have a friend who will be doing all my machineing for free or nearly free so what are the comments.
The car the engine is destined for is a 1978 monte carlo it's the same size as the 80's monte Carlo's. I have duel exhaust and 342 gears. with a T350 transmission and a shift kit.

my main concern is weather the cam will perform well with the gears and compression on regular pump gas.
My goal is to get as much HP for the least buck possible. But my main goal will to be able to lift my tires (stupid but fun). I will also be building a 427 for my car i want to have a choice of motors that i can switch once in a while while i freshin up the other motor, This way my car will always be driveable. I think it will be fun to switch between rat and mouse without letting people know that i have switched. If they think they are raceing a mouse and it's a rat all the better it's not like i am raceing for money.

I will also be setting up an alcholl injection this should help me run pump gas i am told. I will use Hobbs switches and windshield waser pumps running to motor bike injectors in the bottom plate of the Holly.

Do you see an problems with this.

P.S. if any one is wondering my 78 monte carlo was and is my first car I currently have 3 cars and a truck, but have owned over 30 cars, 3 trucks and 1 van all of which i have had insured other than 2 of the cars. Also I am only 23 and am partical to GM products but will drive anything if I like it and the engine is big enough.

my monte is not a daily driver it has a polished paint job on it with leather buckets and back bench in it. When i purchased my car it was all orignal now it has parts from at least 28 different cars on it. It's nice to have a friend who is an auto wrecker.

Fuel millage is not a great concern this cars only purpose is to burn fuel in as fun a way as possible.

I would reccomend scrapping the pink rods and buying a matched set of vortec rods, they are 30% stronger. Also, get a dual plane aluminum intake. Make sure to deck the block so that the pistons will be within .010 from the top and squared, of course.

I would suggest a high performance oil pump of some type. If you really want to lift the front tires, you are going to need a high stall converter. You might also consider going to lower rear gears and switching to an overdrive type transmission. If you are not driving it dailey 4.56 would be a good place to start. You will also need to do some suspension work to improve weight transfer to get it to hook.

what Tranny would hold up best? I am owed an over drive tranny by a friend and have my choice of a 200 r4 or a 700 r4. I thought the 700 R4 would be better since it is stronger to start with but a friend tells me that the 200 R4 is now just as easy to build for power while useing less HP to operate. is this acurate, keeping in mind that the transmission that i put in should be strong enough to bolt onto a BB as well.

Haha, crasy man from some crasy ma-tha. Myself, I run a 700R4 and it has served me well for several years now with no repairs required. I run 600 hp N/A with another 250 on tap. I run 4.10 gears and pull the front wheels without using the juice off the line. What helps is the 3.06 first gear in the tranny. The 200R tranny has a 2.76 first gear and for that reason alone, it would be harder to yank the wheels. However the 200 has better spacing of the gears. The 700 has a huge leap to make when it shifts from the 1.78 second gear to the 1.0 third. However, if you have goobs of torque, no problem. I also run a 3200 stall converter.

I should have spelt it, gobs which rhymes with bobs etc. What I meant to say is that if one has excessive amounts of torque, then the spacing of the gearing within the tranny aren’t an issue, ie: rails, which have a 2 speed. Having said that, I am not sure that anyone ever has too much torque.

Hey Grinder, let me tell you how someone explained torque to me F U years ago. His story went something like this.

Torque is likened to a young man who wakes up in the morning and he has to relieve himself, however when he arrives at the porcelain fixture, as he stands in front of it trying to get a grip of the matter at hand, he finds himself in a peculiar situation. Although the need is great, when he forces his aim, he can not pull the trigger. So he leans forward lowering his shoulders to try and alleviate the stress, and finally the heels of both of his feet become airborne, THAT, my friend is torque.

Add to that another 30 years and if this old man, at least sometimes, still runs into this problem, that is gobs of torque.
