Before the Olds we used 3/4 ton truck rearends. They had steep gears, were unbreakable, plentiful and cheaper than buying a set of Zoom gears, a spool and a set of Henry's 10 spine axles. Just cut the centers out of the truck wheels and weld them into two wheels that had been split and widened and then mount a set of 9.50-15 firestone recaped M+H slicks and take it to the track.
