35, duh old age I guess, you're right, the show moved from the Coloseeum downtown when the new "Convention Center" was built but still under the Sabres banner. I remember one year they had a couple of George Bariss's cars there, one of them was the pickup, and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it.

Dave, yes it was a very nice show, lots of real nice old iron, full blown customs, vintage dragsters and rods with most all of them from the Rocky Mountain region...the "flyover" part of the country has some great builders too, just not featured as much in the rags:)

Last night I was racking my brain (and believe me, that hurts!) trying to remember the names of the shows when I remembered one: did you ever go to the "Tri State Auto Exhibition"?

I put my Car in that one too ('57 Chevy) in 1972-didn't do as well, but my car sat next to the "Assassination" Funny Car-met John Dekker, POS, but that is another story)my recollection of it was that it was a competitor to the Sabre's show-great memories, and oh, don't forget the Angel Hair!

Yeah I do remember the Tri-States shows, only went to a couple of them though, They were held at the Convention center also if memory serves?. I think the last Sabres show my Dad, one brother, one uncle and one cousin and I went to was in maybe '75 or '76. and it was back at the Colosieum, by that time most of us kids had moved from CO/Denver and/or had our own families, or were in the service.
By fall /winter of '72 I was living/working in Steamboat building condos and I never made it to our holiday gatherings.

Wow. Kool. Thanks. I remember going to McNickles Arena (The Old Colosieum) and taking it all in. Back then had some friends that would show there. Knew a few Sabre's back then. One of them had a kool 58 Impala.

Very cool pics. Some super nice work. I like the 200hp fuel injected flathead and the El Camino with the 57Chev rear end. Some pretty unique and classic stuff in those shots.
