Gotta share this one! One of my "regulars" has a new car. If you live in the Northeast, you might have seen this one before, with blown smallblock Chevy power. It now resides in Arizona.
We are going to do some drawings, with a few different styles and colors of flames....pick one....then finish mounting the hood.....and "sling paint"!
I love it when projects are kewl..........and don't involve the nasty stuff, like bodywork and primer. I'll post a picture when it's done.

Here's the last one I did. A little extreme.... but with a blown 572 BBC.... maybe it was just right! :-)

Just my opinion, using the blue car as an example, but I would leave off the flames on the doors, they don't appear to 'flow' well with the front of the car, just do the hood and front fenders.

Actually the flames were done that way at the owners request.
His logic was to be able to run with or without the hood, and not have the flames look "chopped off".
Since it's his car.... and his nickle....we did his design.
Us painters don't ever get 100% control....just 100% of the blame. :-)
I know you had to do what he wanted, but I agree the door flames don't look right. Sort of like add on graphics or something. That paint job would have been perfect with just the ones on the nose.

It did notice the interruption in "flow".... but he's been back with more work.....and it beats workin' a real job! :-)
Of the hundreds of custom jobs I've done since '72, I can only think of about a dozen that were actually my choice.....and part of that is because I used to sell prepainted Harley sets. :-(
Yeah, I guess only the "Soup Nazi" gets to tell his customers what he really thinks. The rest of us have to bite our tongues a little and keep telling ourselves "it's his money, it's his money, it's his money............" :D:D

I had a 73 bug that was the same color blue w/metal flake.
then I had it pinstriped w/ a light blue and it looked great too.

I'm sure I'm the minority here but I like plain red :D But I hope he spends lots of money with you, you are very talented.

Still, this is a hobby that is supposed to be for individualizing your car....and if you like a solid color, that's what you should do. Too many people today try to pronounce that there is a right or wrong way to build, but then it would be a hobby of "sheep". I wouldn't like that. The variety makes it more fun to "look".
You guys make me blush. When I look at my work, I am always looking for "what I should have done better".
Heaven help those that turn me loose. When it does happen, I am usually doing something way too far ahead of the trends. I was trying to sell trufire flames in the mid '80s....and tribal flames in the late '80s. They became popular about 2000-2005. I guess that is why they say to "never be more than 5% new & different".
This guy is currently letting me "stretch" a little on this guitarist theme. It will also have Hendrix and Jimmy Page on it.
