Haven't quit work on the T......

I havent posted any progress on the T in awhile. Been neglecting the poor thing what with buying and selling projects. Now with the 51 Chevy, Ive been busy putting some personal touches on it.....But I did manage to get the body channeled and installed floor supports and fabricated a floor and installed my new Lokar shifter. Also painted the inside of the body with a black POR-15 paint. Man that stuff is messy!! Here's a few pics of the progress.....

Thanks Don.....It seems like I've been slacken on the T but Im doing a little each week. Plus bought a boat load of parts for it too!!

Looks great like the new sheet metal! Hang in there it takes time, but is fun when you get back to it.:D

Wow....it's been a long time since I posted here. But let me make it up by posting some progress pics of my T coupe. This has been the longest I have ever taken to build a project car! It just seemed that I had so many other projects in between working on this that it always was on the back burner. Well Ive been hitting it hot and heavy for the last few weeks. The biggest part was getting the body work done. I admit that I suck at it so I gave it to a local body shop (another story entirely!). I took the entire project apart and powder coated the frame and suspension parts. Here is where she is at now....

Going to paint it Shiney black too! Still have to put the tunnel ram and scoop and other eye candy on the engine. I WILL have this thing drivable before spring!!

Gotta admit when I saw that 2009 tag line on the most recent post I thought, "What the heck?? Who's digging up things from THAT far back!!" :LOL::LOL: Glad to see that you're still into the project, and back into it making progress! Looking forward to watching this one grow during the winter. Being a big T fan I'm glad to be able to pick up the story also and thanks for the photos. One question though and I realize I'm far too late for any changes, also this is just me thinking out loud and you have every right to tell me to mind my own business, but, why did you build the frame so long, to me it is out of proportion and should of been several inches shorter. Maybe with using those zoomies doesn't help either and maybe side pipes would help bring it all together a bit better. Just my humble opinion here.

But it was great to see this coming back to life. Keep it up!

The T is looking real good so good luck getting it all done and on the road by Spring. I would think that looking as good as it does now should give you plenty of motivation to finish it.

Thanks for your comments. That is what I love about hot rodding, we all build our cars to our own tastes. I never cared for the stubby short look of most T buckets....in fact, I never really liked buckets. But I do appreciate the fact that some do and that there is a place in the hot rod hobby for them. What I do like about buckets it the open engine/wheel&tire look. I also like a real steel body. So my choice was to make a T with a real body, and eliminate the stubby look by using a frame built for a 27 T not a 23 T. The pics may not do it justice, but this rod looks badazz in person plus it is an original body.......

As you say it is a genuine Henry Ford steel body and I also noticed that you haven't sacrificed interior room or leg room by cutting the firewall so that makes for a longer frame. And I agree, it is what makes this hobby of ours so interesting that we all have different ideas on how a car should look. I just think that overall, the proportions could of been adjusted abit finer and that would of made for a much pleasing look on the eye. Oh the first fibreglass T Bucket bodies were manufactured in the late '50's as the salt racing guys and then hot rodders were having trouble finding good useable bodies even back then. Here in NZ we basically didn't have original T's in any sort of number so have to settle for Fibre bodies.

I'm with T42, I think the proportions are just about perfect! Otherwise the whole thing looks squat and stuffed. JMHO!

As "we" like to say.. when you payin' the bills.. YOU can build it the way YOU want!:LOL::LOL:

I think it's a killer look, and bet it's even better in person when you can walk about and check different angles. Camera angles can often fool the eye. On an open wheeled car the wheelbase & proportions are a wide open pallet of choices, and the guy building the car is the only one who really has to be satisfied as long as it's safe and well built. Glad you're back, and looking forward to watching your progress in coming months.

Thanks guys. I agree that camera angles can fool the eye. But also, when you post a build thread, you are opening yourself to criticism. Not a problem, everyone has different tastes. One of the things that made me stay here was that most everyone was mature enough and realized that it's the old "Golden Rule"! You know that one right? The guy with the gold makes the rules! :LOL::LOL: It's a "ROD" and there ain't no right way except what looks right to you. Now we can all "offer an opinion".. but it still has to be what you want so we're all good there! :)

One thing that has changed since your last visit in "09".. pictures are almost a requirement... descriptions of updates and new parts/pieces is just a tease! :3dSMILE::LOL::LOL:

His and hers yes....but the black one is hers. Its a Honda Ace. The fat tire one is mine and its a Saxon custom soft tail chopper with an S&S motor.

No, I didnt make the stands. They are a Speedway motors product that I had powder coated to match the front suspension. :)

Nice looking T , always liked them, just seams everythime I get one squired away, somebody always offers me more fair coin, and it goes :)
