This will confuse you...hotrod or notrod...

These pics are of a car my brother bob is working on with his friend Ken in Clovis New Mexico.
So the question is....Hotrod...or Notrod....


#1. It is a 32
#2. it is pre 1948
#3. it is faster then with original motor.

the frame, running boards, steering, front end, radiator, and fire wall are from a 1932 chevy.
the engine, transmission, and rear end are out of a 1995 chevy S10, computer/fuel injected. originally had a flathead in it.
The body is styled after a 1929 panel truck.
the headlights are hand spun aluminum.
The owner, Ken, has already won 2 shows with it, I'm not sure what catagory.

It's titled through the state of New Mexico, as a "2009 HOMEMADE"...not homebuilt, but homemade. they had special chevy emblems made for it that say "homemade" in the center.
I know it wasnt really made for speed, or to be a "hotrod" but I think it's pretty nice.

I like it! I think it's cool, but I think the headlights should be round.

here's a couple more pics. I here the guy that owns it uses it to pull his other car to shows. My brother said they are changing the belt from serpentine to V-belt tomorrow for some reason, and they need to make the water pump turn the opposite way or something like that. I think he said they want to put an electric cooling fan for the radiator in there too. These pics are also several months old, so I think he has it all repainted and more done to it.

Well, I don't quite know how you would classify that one. Definately cool though! I would sure cruise that thing! Just have to be careful not to let the animal crackers spill out! hahahahaha

I also thought that about the headlights being round, but they may have done this just for now to get it titled. might change them later...or might not.

No worries about rust. Termites, however, might be a different story. :LOL:

Show trophies could have been in something like "Best unfinished" or "Best work in progress".

i think that it is really cool. a true head turner. definetly different.

...and just so you know, I'm sure it isn't meant to be a "ratrod"...it's just not completed yet.

I like the piano hinge on the windshield. I would drive it, but it does need round headlights in my humble opinion.

Everything about it is unique! The wood work is top notch! What color is he going to paint the running boards and the rest of the tin? The lights definately sort of slap yah when you look at them, not sure if this is what was intended? It's definately a rod, just not sure maybe a whatrod!:D

I'll call my brother later on, and find out if they have a newer picture of it, and about what color the rest was painted. I know he just planned to do the clear finish on the wood, but I'm not sure about the rest. I think these pictures are from around March of this year.

I like it, hotrod, notrod or knotrod, doesn't matter. There are quite a few woodies similar to it around my area and while some are less appealing I like the treatment of your brother's. Headlight treatment is unusual but not bad looking at all.:D

I vote for hot rod. In the early 50's the cars were atched together with what ever they could make fit. I remember from the late 50's into the 60's when people used 55 gal barrels to make tubs. I think it's the effort that caouns in the long run.:CRY::CRY::LOL:

I don't think anybody cares what it is called, an it doesn't make any difference. Just get rid of those square headlights. They do nothing for the looks of the car.

you're right about nobody cares, and it doesn't make a difference. I only submitted this post in fun, in responce to other recent posts, and to show that I was proud of what my big brother helped with, and did a great job. thankyou for your comments.

talked to my brother this morning. He said the running boards and fenders are painted a brown not quite as dark as the firewall. the frame will be a gold color, and he said they're sticking with the square headlights. they're putting a little red LED on the back of each headlight case that will signal when the bright lights are on. he said they're also wanting to switch the rear end to 6 lug instead of 5, because the original front is 6. they also want to move the rear tires out about an inch on each side, so they plan to make a 5 to 6 lug adapter plate about 1 inch thick for each side, out of billet, as soon as my brother gets his vertical mill moved to his new shop. They moved the altenater to the other side, and got rid of all the aluminum brackets on the front of the engine, got rid of the tensioner wheel, replaced the belt with a v-belt instead of serpentine, reversed the direction of the waterpump, and got an electric fan for the radiator and got rid of the original engine fan. The altenater now moves on the brackets that they made to adjust belt tension. They also put 4-inch red semi trailer lights on the back for tail lights I guess.
