rc57 good point and that has been a thought all along . Heidts did figure it in when the made the parts but I checked it a lot along the way . This pic is car on the ground and clearance with a 15 inch rim . Aperture being off a little I have about 1 1/2 inches of clearance. A 14 inch rim would still work but a little tighter to the ground .

:)Good homework
Well its all in mock up . See some things I may want to change , we will see .
I did have one shock off a few degrees and you sure can tell when you bounce it . I have that corrected now and it sits level ( fell into some luck :) ) .
So here is the pic of the leaning cabin in the Dell's .

Looks good Bobby!!! Got any buddies who are circle burners???? They should know of a shop that has a coil spring checker, then you'll know the rate of the springs @ installed height...if they're too soft or too firm you'll at least know what you have know and what to order.....
Well good thing I believe I have a coworker who made one . He does do straight line but a tester is a tester . Also I got on spare tire mount and jumped the pan hard didn't hit floor . I had my son jump on it at 260 and the same thing still cleared . I think I will raise the floor just a bit since it is under the back seat .
Well next step is chopping windshield frame down 3 inches. I sprayed it 2 years ago when i took it out . The screws came out like a new car was I lucky or what . Get this cut and fitted well into the opening then off to a glass maker to replace the old one . Why are they always cracked or busted didn't the kid;s of the 40's and 50's have anything better to do then to chuck rocks LOL . Wasn't me

Got it cut down the 3 inches and fits great so luck rules again :D
http://inlinethumb15.webshots.com/33...600x600Q85.jpg
Making more steps on the windshield frame . After I wire brushed it with a die grinder the bottom piece had a split seam on top . It was the rustiest part of it for sure .
So I started to build it up after a cleaning with CLR and a hand wire brush . Then I started to weld it back in , after blowing thru the thin metal I reached some that is clinging on for help LOL  .
I am using a copper backing to help build and hold the steel wire in place . I see this will be tedious work and many passes to fill . Then it will be some filing to form it back and have it ready for a piece of glass.

Nice work Bobby. Patience of a saint!
There sure can be alot of things to consider huh Bob? Looking good to me, I put mine the same and it id plenty stiff. Very cool.
Thanks Guys I an still on it strong , to get done. still working it almost nightly to keep some things going .
Worked the WS frame some more tonight . Have it almost back to where it should be . I still have a couple low spots , but from building it up with small bead welds from where the rust was , I am getting excited . Getting it done and taking my time to get it right the first time .
I filed the contour on the frame a little , to find what low spots are left tomorrow will be its done day or Wednesday at the latest .

Been a few weeks since I worked on the 31 . Sons wedding in GA. last week end . Then the Mongo Rot cold I have been fighting for more then a week .
I did get a little done tonight on the windshield frame . Then the son and I took out the side wood on the top . Henry didn't plan on this wood being removed was a good job getting it done . It was soft but not rotted out . Will get a new top kit to make it easier . Then the original type vynle will go on .

Well son a neighbor and I got the body off . Clean up the bottom and por15 it . Then I can plumb the brakes in Finish up some welding and get it painted . I am just going with a satin frame paint nothing fancy just clean .
Have to clean the rear end , paint , freshen engine ,paint get all the front suspension painted . Figure 3 days on engine its a low mileage one and a hard week end prepping and painting .
I ordered a New Top Wood kit because I am going to have the original vynle top reinstalled . I think that look is what will give it some class .

Last couple days been on the rod . Since I changed from the T-5 to a AOD I
had to redo the trans mount . I used a 65 Mustang trans cross-member works great .
I also did some pre measuring and placed in the master cylinder . Maybe now I can get some brake plumbing done . Work in reverse back to the cylinder this way I think it will be easier to strip and paint . Master may be off a little since I did it with the body off but it will be close . I will get it perfect once the body is back on .

I like the look of the stock type roof, Bobby... It's actually more work then filling the hole, but on a sedan it just looks right! The whole project is coming along great! One more customer car to get finished up, then I get to spend some time on my stuff for a change! Maybe both of us get some cruizin' in this summer, Bobby!
Dave I sure hope to get some seat time in . The mustang and A are so close . I do drive the mustang around my street though :D. No glass , paint , or interior but its fun .
Few weeks back I took my 37 to the guy that worked on my A . He said I should get it back by winter all sheet metal done and suspension in .
I hope you get some seat time in the maro or Ranchstang been keeping a eye open here .
Maybe the 'maro...Ranchero is at least a couple years and a bunch of thousands of dollars away... For sure the pickup, should have it running sometime this week.... Then I get to rearrange my little garage, and make room for the '37 Plymouth so I can get back on it full time---which leaves the 'maro and Ranchero back in the corner----again.
Still have the Buick on the updated frame to ?? 37 Plymouth don't remember this one at all .
Nothing wrong with real money :) . So you still banging at the shop .
Ok a little more update the wood kit I ordered came in . It was made by a master cabinet maker getting into this end . His templates where done from pieces already fit to a car and they sure fit like a glove .
So tonight I finished off getting the header out since I had already done the sides . The header fits snug and in place just like the sides , I am stoked no sanding to fit the pieces in .

Are you going to leave the wood frame work inside, or go with steel?
I have a 30 Chevrolet sedan and the wood is shot. Mine is a hot rod and I am told that I have to go with steel in place of the wood for safety. Your thoughts?
I have a 1930 Chevrolet sadan which has a wooden interior frame that is rotten. I am told that I have to replace it with steel instead of a wood kit for saftey sake. Your thoughts?
Steel by far is much safer , This has very little wood actually for a 31 Ford ,just enough to tack the interior to and the top . The little bit of body wood in a Ford is in between steel so I will leave it like that .
Worked on the new top wood all week end . Just 2 pieces left finish up tomorrow . I can see the vynle on it all ready .

Also I cheated in one more spot I ordered a front floor section . Just hope it fits great where I don't have to bang and pry it in ,

Did some clean up on the floor frame getting it ready to POR 15 . I do have a little rust issue to fix but not bad .
I found a place nearby to blast the frame at a reasonable price so I will be breaking it down with in the next week also .

Still can't get over what great condition the body is in Bobby!!! Only time I've built an "A" with last rust it was a 'glass car!!!! The top wood really looks nice! When my Dad was still alive top wood and the wood for the chebbie's were his favorite winter projects, he made them all from scratch... What are you going to use for fabric on the roof?
Lookin awesome with the wood kit, as Dave says what a nice model a body :D Mine was the junk nobody wanted  I have noticed the body panels seams to be stamped differently. Henrys die must have been out of wack
The frame is all ready for the blasters now. I have a few things I still want to do , but it will be shiny when I do them .

Good long week end , had the time to get the rear end cleaned and painted . Now it's all the little suspension stuff up next . Hopefully get the frame back early this week have a few more things to do . Then I can get it painted , think it's going to be John Deere blitz black . Like what I have read about it's satin finish .

Oh one more I did get a nice 1969 302 engine from my neighbor . He pulled it from his 65 Mustang he is building retro with FI . It has the 58 CC heads sporting a stock 9.5-1 compression . With the 268H comp cam this should have a little Giddy - Up - Go . Been in his garage 10 years block is not rusted and the bores had a light surface rust already have that removed . The also measured stock 4 inch bore sweet . The bottom rotating assembly has been balanced shows on the rods where they machined away material on the bottom of the rod cap .
