23 T-Rod, painted....almost done!
Quick update on the 23 T-rod project. My current goal is to have it done by the end of March for the Good Guys show in Tallahassee. With the help of my family, so far we have done:
1. Body off frame
2. Engine rebuild (replaced heads with harden seats, smaller cam, new seals, etc)
3. Trans, resealed (turbo 400)
4. repainted the axles, frame, suspension, etc.
5. repainted the body
6. Mostly rewired...workin progress
7. Added TWO tail lights and blinkers.
8. Slowly...polishing all the brass.
Things we have added/changed from the original.
1. Painted the rear axle orange instead of black.
2. electric fan for the radiator (saftey reasons)
3. swapped amp meter for volt meter and changed configuration of items on the dash (made new dash panel).
4. installed my freaky custom push button electric shifter
5. moved the coil under the dash and added breakerless ignition.
6. ADDED FRONT SHOCKS
Pending Items---Headers (chrome) are on back order. We couldnt save the old ones (tried to ceramic coat them). Front brakes??? Still up in the air on those huge drums. However, I can live with them as needed for now. The interior has to be redone (same color).
My goal is to have it running and working in the next couple of weeks so we can fine tune it before the show. I will run the old headers until the new ones show up.
The body paint was a butt kicker. I had to shoot the car in gold in spots, then tape it off, then black, then tape, then some more primer, then orange...then gold flake clear....then two coats of straight clear.

Here is the cool new front shock mounts...BTW, my neices picked out PURPLE. We are also putting purple plug wires on the car. I am going to attempt to paint the cap and see how that looks.
