The wiper motor on my '29 coupe has been hanging by the shaft since day one :rolleyes:

How do I go about mounting it properly :confused:
I figure I can epoxy a wood block and bolt it in place, but I thought I'd ask first :o
Might be better to make a bracket off the lip above the windshield to bolt the motor to.....
It looks like your shaft is too long. The outer shaft can be cut down to make a tighter fit between the wiper motor and the window frame. Then you can cut down the inner shaft to get a nice tight fit between the inner shaft and the wiper arm.
Hard to explain but rather easy to do.

I know it's nice using what you have, but they do make a direct fit application for you vehicle. Try All Ford in Campbell Ca, they have them in Stock, the complete unit. Direct bolt in.Quote:

The shaft goes right through the header. there is a nut on the front side that secures the wiper motor. Then the wiper pops on, two speeds. All Ford Parts 408-378-1943 I do not believe they have a websiteQuote:

I would get some flat bar probably 1/8 " and either weld on some studs or drill and tap for flathead bolts for the mounting holes to slide over. I would then either tack weld in, or JB weld it to your header. I would make it a tight fit vertically so there would be no movement that way.
I would also do as suggested prior , shorten up the threaded shaft to suit.
I've actually decided to scrap the electric motor and make a hand crank instead :o
The motor is far too bulky and obstructs my view no matter how I mount it :(
Besides, I don't really plan on driving in the rain and the last 3 downpours I got caught in really didn't affect the flat windshield much for some reason :confused: (and I have yet to put Rain-X on it)
I figure a hand crank will be easier to conceal as well as a neat conversation piece :p
Looks to me that you are missing the wood up there on the header panel,thats what you would normally screw the motor to. I do know that my buddies Bob and Gavin @ www.newportwipers.com came up with a trick dual wiper system for the model A's. By the way the motor you have is made for boat windshields and found their way into hundreds of model A's.
