Uncle Bob that grille doesn't look so bad from the front, what is it,I have been trying to read the name down the centre piece,(Commer) is it from an early tractor and what does the inserts look like?????.
Thanks for the photos too, the first coupe now lives in NZ down in the south island. It recieved slight damage in the Christchurch earthquakes sadly. It has a small small block chevy in it (265 cu. in.) and a five speed gear sack.
The third photo down got my blood running hot with the stance, wire wheels and ofcourse flatty and quickchange. Traditional rodding at it's best yeah.
On another site (Ha**) I followed a guy named Brian Bass roadtrip across your country up into your neighbour hood for a rod show then cruise back down for Speed Week at Bonneville. He has a bare steel '29 5 window with a
4 carb hemi powering it, chrome steel wheels fitted with Firestone tyres, just a raw horny true hot rod. The thing that really cranks me is how he has fitted the '32 windscreen doing away with the front eye brow visor. Absolutely marvelous.
I will be following your every move now Uncle.:)
29 roadster body on 32 rails, the original hotrod, lovely

Yeah, whip,I thought that looked like Lindsays koop...Very nice little car,,apart from where I left the drool marks on it..:D:D
Yeah,I will rattle Whiplashes cane basket..keep the grille shell, looks different uncle Bob..Ya might just start a trend..dont tell anyone what it is..apart from me..:D
Uncle Bob, you got wayyy too much time on your hands! I love that coupe in the first picture, it's got character what with that non-chopped roof. Also, I love that grille shell. Ya know, I think you got Collecto-mania BAD. Fun to read your posts. Have fun. Perley
Here's some inspiration for you. (us?) Now all I've got to do is get my buddy kenny to "enable" me again with a good coupe body.:)[/QUOTE]
i want a 4dr sedan to build only a 28 or 9 , i would like a restored car to start .
i found a real nice 30 5 window last week at the local swap meet , runs and drives , 8k . and another body only 2500.00
And your point............?;):D
Yes Steve, exactly why I've always wanted one......and now have two!:whacked: Okay, so one's a '30, but.......
That first coupe was built by Richard Graves down in Long Beach Ca. Long time, very skilled rodder. What's particularly notable about that car is the way he made the body and frame absolutely conform to one another. We mere hacks do the easy way and let the body hang over the frame. It's that extra detail that separates the truly outstanding cars. As for the grille the picture below will clarify it some I'm sure.
Here's a picture with the original grille insert which I like, but I think I'm going to play with the notion of a stainless, woven wire insert as well. I'm going to have to widen this one just a might to get the hood fitment I want, so I may have to do something with that center bar, and that lump going over the top needs to be scaled back some. And then a rolled "chin" underneath to obscure the front cross member and visually fill the void left by the flat bottom. There will be a bunch of little tweaks necessary to get it to it's best. As for what it's from, you should be able to read the logo better in this close up. It's a RARE factory option......
Bob,never ever seen one,,must be showing my lack of age...obviously[I hope] a truck grille,,you will have to fill us in on the details...totally different, but thats what makes hotrodding enjoyable..Looks good,in fact to start with thought it might have been mid thirties Mopar...
Heck Uncle Bob, I have been caught out this time about the grille havn't I ?
Is the lettering stamped into the centre piece? I do like the inserts too as they are not over powering on the eye. So please accept my humble apologie for my first comment, so sorry Uncle Bob...:o Will you be running a full hood or bonnet for us southern chaps. And what motor etc will be making home between the rails?? Heck I am a nosy person ain't I ??:HMMM:
Now that is an excellent idea Robin as I have done some research and there doesn't appear to be anyone down here building 28/29 Model A roadster or coupe bodies. I know that rodder in Auckland brought in the steel brockfield roadster to sell and that guy in Nelson has bodies also but, yeah the big BUT, I have to finish the bucket before I start on the next project or all my words of wisdom I have and still give Steve Phihps about too many half completed projects in his garage will be thrown back into my face eh.
