The Cheemer
Wow, I've been catching up on the latest Barrett Jackson Auction and just watched the Cheemer sell - a '61 Impala customized with BMW 750 running gear, suspension and interior. What an amazing engineered custom! I was surprised that it went for just $100k plus the commission and taxesIt would be interesting to know what the consigner paid for it last year.... I have a feeling he expected it to bring a lot more.

I think the photos really must not do it justice as it still looks like a '61 Chevy Bubble Top with a bolted in beemer drive line - not a heluva lot different then bolting in a big block Chebbie with lots of luxury items except the builders used an "exotic" European drive line.

I agree with IC2 seems like a lot of money for a not so cool car.

Guess I must have gotten caught up in the "build" videos they had showing how the guy put it together. There were a lot of really nicely done features on the car, but it is basically a BMW with a '61 Chevy skin, I suppose.... then again, I really like '61 bubble tops, too.

BJ gets 10% both ways now....10% from the seller and 10% from the buyer.....not bad gross to let someone bring a car into their tent. Of course, it's not all profit. But, they
do have other income.....parking, concessions, trinket sales, TV income, and whatever.

I thought it was a cool build too.............and I'm a ratrod type of guy.
The first model car I built was a 32 Ford roadster by Revell in the mid 50's.
How did you get hooked on cars?
