Looks like this got overlooked when you posted it Plum.
I have seen these too and wondered about them. Seems like a cool idea with a little "wow" factor. Looks like they may take up a little space though.
Don Jr.
I checked them out on a F1 at a show last year. Pretty cool and the owner had nothing but good things to say about them. He said they sealed tight and had not had any problems. This pickup was a driver. He fired it up and did a demo for me and I must say I like it.
I never used them, either; did used to make our own from heat riser valves way back in the stone ages, though. Stacy David put a set of cutouts on his Rat Roaster '32 roadster project a couple of years ago; I don't know if they were Doug's, but the were electrically operated. He put them at the end of the collectors on his headers; had to notch the frame to get the actuator motor up horizontal, put a nice turndown on the end after the cutout, and tapped the header collector ahead of the valve and ran the muffled exhaust under the car. Looked to be a good project. Check out his site at "Gearz"; google or search "Gearz TV" or Stacy David, and go digging around for "Rat Roaster".
Might want to check you local and state laws first.... Cutouts used to be illegal in many states, would imagine they probably still are in some places... The last and only set I had (manual) cost me about $20.00 to build and $275.00 in fines and court costs when I got caught with them---and they were closed!!!!!
I've used these DMH electric cutouts for 3 years with no problems.

thanks for the replies, started thinking no one hade ever seen or used this product.most times I dont go back and check my threads after a week or so,maybe I need to give people more time to post replies. As for the law,if they want to get me,I,m sure there's things they can find now if they want to be gerks.most dont.
Putting a set of DMH units (My be another brand, I haven't purchased them yet) on the '40 Chevy in the next 3-4 weeks. Have to wait until the painting is complete and the engine is back in. Since I had to cut the exhaust to take the engine out, I figured I might as well put some more fun into the hot rod. I'm running an LS2 and I've heard what the LS2 Vets sound like. Guess I'm still a kid at heart.
Hot Rod mag did an install review of the QTP cutouts, which they claim to be the highest quality they've found - April 2012 issue, page 88.
You guys know this post was just over a year old right?
