Updating Site: Will be a few issues I need to resolve over the weekend.

I lurk here from time to time, and have always enjoyed what I've read. The folks here care about the hobby and are always willing to share what they have learned for free. I don't see this change as anything more than that. It's just something to learn. Many forums have gone to this style successfully. Kinda like going from a Stromberg to a Holley. It's different, big deal. Are you the same person you were 5 years ago? Look the same, act the same, think the same? (The correct answer should not be - yes, in case you were at a loss). Very few people like change, but sometimes, the slippers wear out and can't do the job anymore. Think of this change as a new pair of slippers. They'll do a better job, look a little different at first, but eventually will be just as comfortable and reassuring to see.

Yes, I can see I have a bit of work to do to clean things up...As far as taking a long time to load, does it load more quickly with the default style (you can select it at the bottom left of the page).

I don't exactly remember the last website, but I'm just going to guess that most of us in these type forums are on in years and bright white backgrounds make it hard for some of us to see. My thoughts..

Well if nothing else was accomplished, a bunch of folks that haven't posted for a while have been shaken out of the trees - a bit of revitalization that has been needed. I'm getting used to it - but still don't like New Forum Posts following me - but other then that, a WIP.

I was looking for an old thread, and tried the search engine but came up empty - it only gave one thread. So I went to my own statistics (clicked my username) and tried "Find all posts" and got only the posts I had made this weekend. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but every time I try to log in, I get this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function vbseo_url_check_canonical() in F:\Inetpub\wwwroot\clubhotrod\forums\vb\route.php(950) : eval()'d code on line 4

I've reset my favourites several times to no avail. I have no trouble logging in from the link in your e-mail. What am I doing wrong?

You are attempting log in using your old bookmark, you must remove your old bookmark and update to the new URL (internet address).

I won`t judge at all ...just adapt, is just change that people don`t like after a while they`ll all be used to it.. I`ll give it a whirle ....no wonder I couldn`t get on..:LOL:

Nope, still the same. I tried two different searches, one Keyword "sway bar" with author "bsa_bob" and got only the post from today; and then went to my profile, selected "Find all posts" and got only one, earlier today to bsa_bob. Next I tried "Find all started threads" in my profile and got nothing at all.

Ok, give it a try now. I think it's working. Something seemed to have gone wrong on the search rebuild, but this time around it seems to be working ok.

I should point out though that it's still building the search index, so while it looks to be rebuilding fine, it's not quite done.

Could be still building, but your "Fix" of his count did not take.

I am gone for a week and wham, a major change. I wasn't sure I was a the right place at first. As they say, the only thing constant in life is change. This is still the greatest site on the web. Thanks for letting us use and abuse your site Brent.

With the change can I go to photobucket and just copy and

I got a bunch and tomorrow in Roch,NY is a mid 70's spring rainy day.Good day to go to the library to post them.

i knew about the changes from the emial brent sent me but i have only just checked it out now. im sure that if we give the right suggestions in the right manner he will try to keep everyone happy-which is near impossible.

we dont build cars over a weekend-well most of us anyway- so im sure it will come up ok, mite just take some time.

Another thing i have noticed is the posts are very large-there is a big space between the posters avatar,details etc. and the actual text box-makes the pages alot bigger than before.

Not complaining just some feedback on my first impressions

the page numbers extend past the page border- evident on 3 word story.

and some of the banner ads in between posts do the same-when the recent posts bar is open, is fine when closed.
The faceebook like button and in particular the text after it seems to be in a random possition- its on top of a box line.

I would like to make a couple of suggestions about the front page. I have no idea what a Recent Activity Widget is. How about switching that and the Recent Forum Posts area around so the new new posts are on top. I really like seeing the random gallery pics on the front page. I also really like the recent video area. But, how about replacing the Poll Widget with links (maybe thumbnails) to new gallery updates?

It appears that you cant bookmark the "today's posts" page since the URL moves as the day changes.
Am I wrong or just old?

Well we could convince Tech to write them all again I am sure he would , Maybe add a little more to it also since his knowledge base is so expansive !!!!

Hey Brent I wanted to thank you for making changes as we have suggested. The site is growing on me, but a couple of things if I may:
I am often getting a page that says No Packets Sent.... when I am going from one page to another. I am using Firefox 4.0.1 if that means anything to you.
And I think one comment I have heard often is the colors are not eye friendly, so I suggest a another style/theme would that the entire page is all white. No colors except the graphics and the borders. The posts should still be in their own outlined boxes. I would call it a work friendly style.
