52 GMC getting close to completion!!!

Put in a busy long weekend on the 52, and its not far off from being ready for her maiden run. A/C is done and charged, engine compartment complete, air suspension complete, stereo system in, small piddly stuff mostly done. Still have to hook up the intermittant wiper switch when it arrives, get the front end aligned, get the exhaust pipes bent and installed, and finish up a couple of last minute little things. Pretty happy with the way its looking...

Seats and upholstery should be complete this week, and with any luck, will be on the road with her next weekend. We're calling her "Midnight Rose"...

Thanks, guys. Yea, it certainly is worth it. I own a small mfg business, and we found ourselves in a slow period awaiting a couple of sizable orders. Rather than put the guys on shortened hours, I decided to put this through the shop and let them try their hand at something different. So...I didn't get to have a hand in everything that was done like I did with the Stude...still worked evenings and weekends, and even some during the day towards the end, as we had to get it complete and back to business. The guys did a remarkable job...one of my shop foremen did the paint and body work. He went to school for body work several years ago and worked in a body shop for a while, but doesn't really do much of it. He did a fantastic job. So...I'm pretty proud of the work they all did, and glad that I at least got to do some of it, as well as spec'ing out all of the details of what we would build. 'Cept for the paint colors, that is...that I left up to my lovely bride of 24 years. I was a bit unsure of it in the beginning, but I sure like it now.

And you are to be commended for keeping your employees at work during a slow spell and yes the truck is beautiful.

Very nice. Show us some close ups of that grill. It is very unusual.

I'll get some shots of it, Rickomatic, but its just the factory issue GMC grill. The front sheetmetal was the major difference in the GMC's and Chevy's back then, aside from the 228 pressurized engine GMC fielded.

Had it out doing some initial runs...had the front end aligned, but won't have the pipes on the headers until Wednesday, and hopefully the seat and interior by the end of the week. 383's running a bit rich but nice...jumps up to 95 pretty quickly. One vinyl air tube was just a bit too close to the hot gas discharge behind the header, though, and let the wind outta my rear end, so my ride was a bit brief...
