Oil Leak

I just got my 1930 where I take it out for a drive. When I bought it, thee was 67 miles on a newly rebuilt engine that I don't think had been driven in a while. I say this because the paperwork from the shop that built it said to bring it back after a few hundred miles so they could address the oil leaks. I only drve it once before I tore the car down and that was over a year ago.
Now when I bring it back after a good drive, it dumps an oil spot when I shut it off about the size of a saucer. This is at the rear oil pan location.
Does this sound like a rear main seal or oil pan? Anything particular to look for?

Yeah, I'd be lookin' for the address of the shop that said they would address oil leaks.

Can't disagree with Tech's approach, but out of curiosity, what type of engine are we talking about here? Is this a 1930 restoration or a hot rod with modern driveline?

It is an early 80 350 with a 400 trans. I can't take it back to the shop as it was built in CA and I am in SC.

Check the easy things first - valve covers (including breathers, pcv connections, external pcv cannisters, etc), intake china wall, sending unit, etc. New oil is very difficult to see, especially on a dark painted surface, and it will run down and follow the pan lip to the back, making it look like a rear seal.

And don't forget the transmission dip stick tube (now, why do I know about that problem:whacked:)
