Done and painted.

I don't post on these forums much but I wanted to share some pics of my 29 now that it's done. Glass car, glass fenders, built it myself over a three year period, first fiberglass car and it was alot of fun and I learned alot about doing a glass car, ( trial & error ) The only thing I did not do is spray the paint, but I did all the prep work and blocked it and primed it and got it ready to shoot. SBC/TH 350 mopar 8 3/4 3:91 gears. The interior I sewed myself, I ordered pleated vinyl from Garys upholstery in Florida. SW Wings gauges, Lokar shifter, I had alot of fun doing this car, and at 63 it may be my last one, hope the pics load OK.

Thanks cffisher, I guess you're right because I learned alot on this one. Fiberglass itches, roadsters are SMALL, fiberglass itches, this is still and always will be fun, and did I mention fiberglass itches. I'm thinking a 32 3 window when I sell this one. Maybee in a year or so, I want to drive this for a while.

If you look up "Hot Rod" in the dictionary, a picture of your car should be there. That, Sir, is a HOT ROD. :D Love it. It sits right, has the right wheels and tires, and the color is different enough to set it apart.

I understand what you mean about this one might be your last. I have a couple of years on you and have to admit the urge to build another one at our age is not as intense as it was a while back. :o But somehow the sickness takes over and we find ourselves right back in the garage, burning, cutting, and generally hurting our bodies all over again. :LOL:

Very, very nice work!!!! 'Glass cars do present a different set of challenges for the build process--I'd say you met every challenge head on and did a most excellent job overcoming them!!! Super nice combination of tires, wheels, color, and all the other parts choices...Very, very nice!!!

Stunning! You did a bang up job. I'd be proud to drive this one anywhere and I'm a muscle car guy! Really like the 3 x 2 intake and the "Dutch" style pin striping.

Thanks Dave, I know you are very highly regarded here and I appreciate the thumbs up alot, means alot to get a good response from all the replys here. I spent alot of time building this car in my head before I ever went into the garage. I think if you start out with an image of the end result in your head and for the most part stick to it, it goes along pretty good, not that I didn't make any changes on the little details but the car you see in the pics is pretty much what I set out to build. Again a big Thanks to you and everyone who replied!!

Hmmmmmm!!! I like that idea, you know it's funny because the fenders on mine posed the biggest problem as far as the ride hieght and the overall stance and hot rod look, and I love lakesters.

I did a few things over untill I thought it looked " right ". Thanks for your compliment, I sure value your opinion here, that means alot, like I said earlier, I don't build cars for others approval, but it sure is good to here all the good comments here.:D

I'm also 150 % behind all the excellent comments that everybody has kindly posted here for you and man you should be very proud of your workmanship. Oh I also wonder if you have stopped scratching yet????

Thanks whiplash, I stopped itching about a week ago, I hope now that I'm done with my car I can hang out here a little more and maybe offer some help to anyone who asks, my Dad (RIP) always said there is no better teacher than the mistakes you've made, if that's true I should be a BIG help,,,,,,,

Thanks chevy 37, My first real street rod was a 37 Chevy P.U. 327 TH 350 Corvette rear. Black, I loved that truck, sold it in 75 or 76 to fund my 40 Chevy P.U. Anyway,,, thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

Man what a gorgeous job you did. I think you nailed it the first time out! Hard to do. I like the idea of riding it and enjoying it for awhile. I think before your next project, you need a current one to give you likes and dislikes, changes, etc.. and time. This one is a keeper! Sometimes it's the process that's fun, others it's the reward and bragging rights once done. I like the red interior and gauge selection too. Just well done and congrats!

I was just thinking fenders are a pain, but after the time and money on paint and body work, it is nice not having loose gravel mess it up! I also wanted to mention, that the kids in the photo seem to love it too!

That's my 6 year old Grandaughter, She has been there every step of the way, ( we watch her during the day while mom & dad are at work ). She wanted to be the model for the first pics of the finished car. I said I would love that. Now she wants to know, ( after seeing the pics of her with the car ) if she can get some "cartoons" on her arms like the girls on my garage wall, ( from Hot Rod Deluxe Mag. ) Oh Boy!!!!!

Hey she is only six so enjoy her younger years before she asks for the keys so she can meet that cute boy from school she fancies. LOL. We have a number of young ladies over here right into building and driving old cars due to helping either their dads or granddads out in the garage while they worked on their own cars so good one as she just may be one of the next generation of rodders.

Hey whiplash, she helped me paint the wheels and is great cleaning the shop, she gets that from grandma. She went for her first ride yesterday and I don't know who was happier her or me. All three of my grandaughters are our life.

Your 8th Rod is a picture of perfection. I suspect that after a short period of time you will get the itch again and start looking for a new project. Do you have any pics of your earlier builds? 63 is young; I will be 69 in Dec. and when I finish (they are never quite finished are they?) the re-do on the 34 I would like to find a late 40s to early 50s Pontiac to build.:)

Sorry for the delay Jack F, I've got some pics of my 37 P.U. my 40 P.U. my 41 coupe and my 47 coupe but don't have a clue on how to get them posted here, maybe my son can scan them in and I'll try to get em posted. I've already got the itch, looked at a 36 Chevy coupe Sunday, basket case but everything is there and solid, there are just alot of baskets!!!! That would give me more room. Good luck on the 34 re-do.

Thanks, I tried to make it not look like a glass car, if that makes any sense, I think alot of glass cars are hi-boys and I really like a nice hi-boy but I just wanted a full fendered, sittin right, no frills " hot rod ". I'm real happy with the end result and thanks again.

I have built a few, other then a T-Bucket I had for about 2 weeks this is the first glass car. And thanks we are having fun with it.

Glass or not fantastic build and the car is great >
