Matt,
If I were you I would not be in a rush, and I definitely would not buy from pictures alone unless it's from a known builder/owner that you trust. You're nearing the end of the season, and even more people will be interested in selling as cooler weather sets in, especially the roadsters. Also, there is nothing that takes the place of putting your own eyes on the cars. The beauty is in the way the details are done, making each car unique in it's own way. If you're sold on having a roadster have you considered a cabriolet/convertible (rollup windows vs side curtains)? Best of both worlds, and there are a few out there that are pretty slick with tops that drop down beneath the back deck. If windows are not important you might want to see if you can find one with a good set of side curtains already engineered and built. You should be going to every local cruise, rod run and show that you can squeeze into the remaining season, IMO. Lots of For Sale signs at the GoodGuys, NSRA and other big shows.... maybe a Fall weekend vacation to hit a big show??

I agree with Roger--you have to actually inspect a car to get a handle on whether it is acceptable. It is critical that you see the craftsmanship put into the car. But if you are interested, I would consider checking it out by having someone from a car forum that you trust inspect it for you if you are too far away to do it yourself. There are also deals to be had if you are patient and willing to wait for what you want.

Good advice. I have been going to local shows. Going to one tomorrow in fact.
Thanks.
