Hi all.
My new ride will be arriving in a few weeks and I think I want flames on her. She's a black deuce roadster.
I was thinking to put on some "temporary" flames for a while to see how they felt before taking the plunge and painting them.
Is there a web site or store that offers a good selection and good quality product for temporary flames?
There are many, many graphics companies out there today making decals & full body wraps for cars - here's one of the first that pops up with a Google of "Automobile Graphics" Car Decals, Custom Decals, Car Graphics, Vehicle Graphics, Auto Body Decals, Carbon Fiber, Window Decals, Stickers I fear that any decal that you get is going to look just like what it is - a stick on graphic, but the technology has come a long way, and I could well be wrong.
When you decide to finally flame it, get someone who really knows flames. There are some very bad examples of the art running around, and not every custom painter understands how to get them right. I saw a pickup the other day that someone had flamed and it looked like a 10 year old had done them. :eek: Never saw wider licks in my life.

Flames - love 'em or not!! I went to the NSRA show last week and took particular notice. Most that I saw, to be less kind then Don, looked, IMO, pretty crappy.

Yeah, I was tired of flames before they came back in style for the second time!!!!
Without doubt, flames are THE classic hot rod paint job. I would argue that scallops were here first, but they were never nearly as popular.
I would look for examples of color combinations you like, and look for a painter who's style you like... then let HIM do the job!
Giving a picture of great flames to a guy, who can't seem to get them all pointed in the same direction... or flowing gracefully... will not turn out well.
Do it right, and it is a timeless classic. :-)

Iam thinking that if you get a bad Decal and it looks like crap, it may scare you from flames. I also think if I were you and I had been talking about flames as much as you have I would find me someone to just do it. Like all the other members has already have said be careful on who you pick, because a bad flame job is hideous. Flames are cool
Hold off until you know what you want. Look at a lot of photos and then decide. That is how I decided on the ghost flames on my deuce. There are a lot of different styles--I love some and hate others. I have lived with mine for over five years and still like them.
Flame decals, like going down on your sister, maybe the same but it ain't right !!!
HotRodPaint, RumRumm and roadster32 have got it right.
Find out what style you like, the colors you like, the artist you like and stay away from your sister!
