Auto transmission with vintage manual floor shift
Saw a '39 Buick at a car show last week that has an automatic transmission (4L60E), but has a vintage manual looking floor shifter. Does anyone know how this would be accomplished?

Probably a Lokar or a knock off of them... IMO they look pretty but don't shift worth a poop if you want to manual shift your automatic....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Just trying to keep the car looking original.
Thought I had to go with a column shift because I want to keep the bench seat and no console. I don't need to power shift thru the gears, just want an auto standard shift operation.
Do these work OK for this?
Thanks

Lokar or Gennie most likely. Dave is right--they are a nice looking unit but don't manual shift well. I designed my interior around one but have seriously considered going with a B&M Quick Silver like I had in my previous car. That was an awesome shifter.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
