Thanks Dave--I'm trying to get ready to go 300mph and this is actually a good review for me--even tho this is for up around trans sonic speeds, many of the very basics have helped me with our cars in the past.
Did you get some more winter up there?
Amazing really, I know there is a lot of technology involved, but man at this level I had no idea. Thanx very interesting. Mr Jerry you say getting ready to go 300mph in what form, I can see from reading your previous posts that you are a big 1320 man. I would imagine no steel wheels would be quite the spark show though!

Roger---the first trip out will probably be with my Firebird--It has a few mods--lowed roof, lenghtened deck/wing/spoiler, ground effects tunnel thru the middle, floor board on bottom of frame tubes--
You have to do several things for license/qualifying certain speed ranges, crew functions, etc, etc
I actually want to go the 300 quest in my Everette-Morrison Cobra----it will have a few mods to improve aero and limit lift---Planning on a fighter plane type canopy/windshield (one side) and rolling the engine to the right several degrees to allow me to extend the left side foot box to allow a lower/more reclined driver position-- the left side cylinder head will be vertical and rt side horizonal to ground--this will allow me the longer foot box area plus room for supercharger in front of driver

Bob as I recall, in 1960 Mickey Thompson kind of rushed Challenger 1 to
Bonneville for his run on the 400 MPH record. It seems like he really wanted another season to shakedown/prep the car, but felt if he waited anther season Donald Campbell’s would be running and set the record higher than he (Thompson) was capable of beating.
As far as any record in the hundreds of miles an hour the only two names you really remember are the first one there and the current record holder.

300MPH is a really BIG number, let alone 1000MPH. Remember too the record is an average of 2 runs. You first must qualify over the existing record in your class, come back the next morning and back it up. We run a twin engine blown streamliner with a best of 309mph with 1 motor, and a blown roadster that has run a best of 212. It's a blast almost too much fun. Hope to see you on the salt.
what do you mean by a twin engine blown streamliner with one motor??? were you only running with one engine in a twin engine chassis??
I am not planning on setting any class record---just running as fast as I can in a Cobra bodied car and see how close to 300 I can get---
Jerry, Sorry I didn't explain the one engine concept. We only ran the rear motor. Disconnected the front driveline. Not sure what kind of modifications you are planning but check out SCTA - Home Page if you haven't yet. Great article you posted. Have you seen Andy Green break the speed of sound at Black Rock. If not I can post it. Very cool.

I really am glad that you got on here as I have been chasing down info on the links from some of your stuff.
I know that there are different classes of speed and I figure I can get over 200 in my old firebird prostck chassis before I start trying to go that fast in a 90 inch car-
I have been in racing for quite a while and Bonneville is just something that I would like to do---
