Meller's "Last" Hoorah - '62 Fairlane

The Barrio Bros Curse strikes again but not a problem.
The PO told me that the Fairlane didn't have a thermostat so I went to NAPA and picked one up. Then when I pulled the housing I found this - grrrrrrrrr

Oh well, now it has a new thermostat. Sure wasn't the easiest thing I've done lately with this one eye and bad back but after 2 tries I "got'er done". Sure ain't fun wiping all that dirt and silicone off the housing and gasket after dropping it on the first attempt. **):LOL:

Ordered the Taylor wires today and they should be in this week so now I need to get busy either looking for a junkyard shroud or ordering a cut your own. That will probably be my last big thing for a while and then I'll start cleaning up the 12v wires that the "mad spider of da'Barrio" has spun in the engine bay.

Got delivery on my Taylor plug wires and they sure look nice. Now, I'm trying to find some wire looms/holders/organizers that will look nice also. I'm wanting to use the separate ones that attach to the VC bolts and graduate from 4 notches down to 1 and just barely hold them above and away from the VC. I've checked Speedway, Summit and Jegs and so far I haven't found what I'm looking for - - - anyone got any more sources?

Roger, I was too hasty with that choice because after I got to looking at what the installation would look like and also some other Ford installations I changed my mind - - - oldtimer's disease I guess. I'll see if I can fix a pic of kinda what I'm wanting to do but I may not be able to do it on the wiffy's computer (since mine's been down for over a month)

Did you also look down below on that page at the "...You may also be interested in...." boxes? Speedway sorts by Wire Looms, Wire Separators, Wire Holders, etc. This is what I used on mine - nothing tied to the engine, just adjust the length to get them running even where you want them then snug down the little bolts to keep them in place - MSD 8843 Spark Plug Wire Separators, Pro-Clamp - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop But I was running mine down in front, hooking beneath the headers and coming up to the plugs from below. Worked better with the lakes style pipes.

OK, I'm gonna have to do this with words and a picture cause I don't know how to edit on her machine.
If you'll take a look at the picture below you will see the VC and the retaining bolts. I'm wanting a 4 position
T-type holder at the bolt in the upper left hand corner and then a 3 position (maybe another 4?) at the bolt
below that one in the lower left corner of the VC and then about halfway down the bottom I could use another 2 position holder and maybe a 1 position at the next bolt but probably not. Anyhow I don't mind buying several sets to accomplish this as long as they match or are compatible looking. Thanks for the reply, Em

Looks like what Mike posted up in #244 is what you're looking for - not cheap, but effective and very versatile. Have you checked out Sachse Rod Shop down in Sachse, Texas? They hit some of the shows up here, and seem to have a really big inventory.

That post that Mike did is similar to what I'm wanting but I don't want to have to change out the VC bolts and I'm thinking that's what I'd have to do.

Here is the overall look that I'm after altho it's a different situation with different dizzy and motor but I really like the way this would show and PROTECT my wires.

I think the guy in the picture used these, or something very similar - Spark Plug Wires Loom Set, Blue - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop

Em these are the ones I used, can't remember where I got them online but I do a little research if it's what your looking for. When I first put them on my wire were way to long, since I took this photo I trimmed them down and they look better, but aren't on the engine as we speak son I can't run out and take another picture! They do bolt into existing valve cover bolt holes.

I saw these and the problem that I have is that the brackets on one set are angled wrong but it does have two 4 wire ends, however, the other set has the brackets like I want but I need 8 and it has no 4 wire ends - - - even if I ordered one of each it wouldn't get me to where I want to be. I would also like to have them in red since the wires are red. There's a possibility that someone makes what I want but it's not looking favorable and I may have to settle or fabricate a bracket which I don't want to do. What I would like to have is a red set like these with 8 straight up brackets plus two 4, 3, 2 & 1 ends (if possible)

Stovens, thanks for the links but I'm wanting the wires higher up from the manifold and VC so that's why I changed my mind the first time (but forgot to tell Roger LOL)

Yeah, the Sachse site doesn't do a search. The only thing you can do is page through their catalog and see what they have. I've never ordered from them - Speedway and Summit are simply too friendly and easy to search.
