A local show in Merriam, KS at their market place beside Turkey Creek. I think the count was 360 cars & bikes registered. Here are some of the better ones that caught my eye. Forgot the camera, so these are via cell phone.

This truck has the honor of being the street rod that was identified as the first example of being "Not Antique" because of the modifications, triggering the re-assessment of the whole licensing process for modified vehicles in KS.

This is a '26 T Coupe - included only because someone posted not long ago that they're building a similar car, considering stretching the frame, & running boards, as well as having the ride height taller? Not my cup of tea.....

I'm in love with the B/Gas Henry-J. Absolutely gorgeous.

Nice cars! I love that old Dodge station wagon. My favorite is that LAYNLOW lime greenish ...not sure what it is; maybe '53 Buick? I'm not even a custom guy but I love that!

I'm agreeing with techinspector on the Henry J. They're one of my favorite gassers. Reminds me of one from my early youth but that one was H/Gas, 292 Chevy 6cyl truck motor, 3 speed stick, 3 X Rochesters; had a lot of fun with that car till my buddy went in the service and sold it.

Post war model.....'46 to '52 maybe.....not sure about the last year they made them......

That headlight with the integral main light and running light below it made me think '53; but for a custom that could have been a custom add-on treatment to an earlier model.

I was kicking myself when I realized I had left the camera on the counter at home, but today's cell phone cameras are really very good - only had three or four pics that were off focus, hazy or with sun glare. Yes, we took the '33. It was a drop dead beautiful day, crystal clear and temps in the upper 70's.

I agree Dave, that '61 Starliner with the 4.6 Mod motor was just fantastic. I talked to the guy who drove over from Topeka, and he said his 4.6 is stock other than taking some "junk" off the front and cleaning up the layout. I'm thinking I've gotta build something else with a 4-valve 4.6 mod for power! They're about a yard wide and just look great when cleaned up.

I talked to the guy with the Dodge for a while, too. He did all of the wood on the car, saying "...it's all flat. I can do flat, but I don't try curves!" :LOL::LOL: He added wood to the door panels and tailgate that hadn't been wood before, built the console, and even put a veneer panel on the air cleaner for continuity;) All the wood in the floor is 3/4" plywood with a maple top veneer and a very nice finish.

Laynlow was indeed flawless. Even that interior was over the top period correct diamond tuck white leather, and the paint & bodywork were perfect to my eye. Just a fantastic leadsled.

Another one that's pretty wicked is that super low VW! My shot of the interior was one that didn't come out, but it is appropriate that the guy left his pair of ear plugs on the seat! :eek::LOL::LOL: That thing has a sharp, bitter BRAAAAAP with a wild idle! It's BAAAAAAAD!!

Thanks Roger for the coverage and ,heck these cell phone pictures are sharp. I agree with the above mentioned cars excluding the Starliner. I prefer the '59 Impala if it had a 348 0r 409 in it. Just winding you all up about the Ford. That VW is damn nice from the flame job to everything about it except I would change the exhaust as I know from experience that you can lose horse power with a large thing like that at the back.

Not a bad looking little beetle.. I have chopped the roof on one of those myself,,so I can appreciate the work that's gone into that..:cool::eek:

Oh, I like the red Suburban. What a good look with the chop and sidetrim, excellent. And then I saw the Starliner. Wow, I want it. I have a Mark VIII with the desirable 32V that is just as smooth a ride and then you jump on it and it does not miss a beat, just moves. Would love to have that package in the Starliner. Dreams for thought...

And the trim on that Suburban is air brushed, not chrome....
