Mustang GTD - First American Sub-7 Minute Lap at The Ring
Yesterday Ford became the first North American Manufacturer to turn a sub-7 minute lap at Nurbergring Motorsports Facility in Germany, nicknamed The Green Hell! With only 5 other cars in the sub-7 club Ford is #5 at 6.57.685 minutes, and while ecstatic, the engineers were most excited that the lap was under less-than-ideal weather conditions. There are a bunch of video clips out there, including one with a cockpit camera during "the lap", but this one gave me chills - https://youtu.be/YuxuSLB1hg8?si=9hci7dyDiIkEN_CZ Best is the Ford engineers saying "...the car has more to give. We'll be back!" Like LeMans '66 when Ford took 1, 2, 3 with the GT40's, destroying Ferrari's dominance of endurance racing. WOW!! Just WOW!!Roger

Holy nuts! like watching Ford vs Ferarri. 14 minutes but worth the watch."Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

Watching the in car video, the telemetry is time stamped as August 7th, 2024. So they've "sat on it" for a few months...

Yeah, I saw another MSN clip that started "Back in
August...." and Ford apparently announced it then. Not
sure why it lagged, but all of a sudden the clips were flying
around!! Sorry, the "Yesterday" tag was bogus, but it's still
AWESOME!!
Edit- mentioned to my gearhead son that the run was in August and he replied that they've been working on the video clips for the "release"!!Last edited by rspears; 12-12-2024 at 01:01 PM.

About the timing Roger mentioned, Ford must be coordinating a bunch of release info. I've gotten notices of several videos and "magazine" (online) articles. Only $300k........probably all sold out to the in the know crowd.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Yeah, you're on target with the Ford release info, Uncle Bob! Saw that Ford announced a new website where potential buyers can apply to be considered.... and that "....there’s a preference for those who will go out and be noticed—i.e., generate earned media for Ford—rather than those who see the GTD as a nice car-shaped investment..Last edited by rspears; 12-13-2024 at 08:14 AM.

I know what you mean about the Holley pumps being noisy, had a couple of customers who used them. On the pumps I use I used to stuff rubber grommets in the mounting holes, but found that really...
