Extrusions help
Hi everyone,
Ok this is probably a bit off being a car hotrod board and all,
I'm a nubee to the scene of hotrodding but have been riding various different bikes over the years, and have always wanted something a bit special. So finally I've gathered up the courage and moneyto try and make my own hemi V8 powered bike.
Ok

I know pretty much what I would like it to do stats wise but I just don't know where to begin to look for extrusions and the pieces I figured I would need would be quite specific.
Do you know any specialist extruders or do you just buy pipe and bend it?
#2
Engine wise
I'm looking at 5.2 - 6.0(5.7 rebore) litre range.
Does anyone know if mopar actually made a 5.2 litre engine though? or have any suggestions on this.
#3 This is really daft to ask but what kind of tools will I need, and is there a requirement of special training with acetylene welding.
Thanks
Iain

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say extrusions. I'm assuming you mean a tubing bender to bend frame tubing. Extrusion is done by pushing the material (say like aluminum) through a die to make lengths of a certain shape part. Sorta' like pushin' meat through a meat grinder, well sorta'.
Haven't heard of acetylene welding a bike frame. Do you mean MIG or TIG welding? (MIG or TIG for mild steel tubing, TIG for chromoly tubing)
I'm not a Mopar guy, but there are a few here that can answer your MOpar engine questions?"PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.
"LIVE" your life like you could die tomorrow.

Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
