Hello from New Zealand.
Hi everyone,
I am the mechanic for an earthmoving company here in South Waikato NZ. My boss has a '67 Impala (RHD here in NZ) that had a stock 283 and powerglide tranz. I have just replaced this set up with a brand new 350 4 bolt crate engine and a fully rebuilt TH350.
The engine side of things was very straight forward. I must have checked the timing about 8 times, but im glad to say that after oil pressure was up and reconnecting distributor live line, it started straight up and purred like a kitten.
The trans was another story, but still no real drama. I had to shorten the driveshaft by 80mm and while we were there, replaced the main tube for something a bit stronger. I made the rear mount so it dropped the rear of the trans by half an inch, because of the extra length of the TH350. Then all i had to do was hand make the gear selection linkage, and run flexible cooler lines.
It drives like a dream now, but i still have a couple of trans wiring questions.
I found the answers to questions i had in the various threads here in this forum, so for that i thank you all.
Adrian

Welcome to CHR, Adrian! And hello from the Pennsylvania (way north of the equator). Glad you were able to get some answers and help to your build issues. I hope you stop by frequently, I believe that we have quite a few members from down under.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

Welcome to CHR!

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
