hot pot spraying whats up with that??
not being a painter or admitt to have a lot of older knowlege . i was speaking to a old bodyman who was talking about hot pot spraying a car. i asked him what he ment he said that they woul d take the paint and heat it on a hot plate to about 100 to 120 degrees and then spay it.
what the heck is with that i can see a possible bomb happening.
i could see the paint being thinned when warmer and that you would get a nice spray with the hot paint . would this also cause the paint to dry faster. i suspect this would have been with old enamel paints.

Just guessing but I bet it would reduce the chance of runs greatly.

Usta be an old body shop close to here that did that, I think the guy was spraying acrylic enamel, He never used thinner as the heat would thin the paint, stuff would flow out perfect and looked great, But I would think it's one of those "don't try this at home deals" (LOL)

Get real pro... It doesn't change the fact that her microwave failed because of the Tweety Bird Yellow paint exploded all over the inside of it!

If i'm gonna use a spray bomb I'll put it in hot water for a little bit. Like they said, it makes it flow betterGerig Michael H.

Course I should talk.. I stored(briefly) a sealed Thermos, full of dry ice in my mom's refrigerator..... Very bad idea...
It blew while I was at school. (junior high)
Blew all the racks out of the refer, most of the food made it to the living room. Eggs included!

and I thought...
at first i thought i thought he was talking about electrostatic spray guns. (hot pot)
we have a roll coater at the aluminum company I work for and am proud to say we save TONS of solvent emissions per year by preheating the paint now and using LOTS less solvent for viscosity/dilution

When I had a bigger shop, one of my guys used to do the hot plate trick. Seemed to work.
I didn't know him but followed his posts. True hotrodder, he will be missed. RIP 34_40 MIKE. Condolence to the Mrs. Nolan
