Bare Sheet metal

OK all you body and paint Guru's I have a few questions. I know that I need to sand this thing down with a DA,,then clean it with wax and grease remover,,and then shoot some primer on it. (i take that back,,I THINK thats what I need to do). This is my first ever project car/paint job and body work. My questions are,,,

1) what grit should I use on the DA when sanding the bare metal

2) What type / brand / model of primer do you recommend ( this will be before I skim coat with body filler?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on how many Mills ( thickness) of paint you have on the panels.
You can start with 40-80 grit , then smooth out the scratches in the metal that the coarser grits leave ,with 150-180 grit.
If you have several layers of paint on the Metal body parts ( do not use on plastic or rubber bumpers) , you can use an Air Craft stripper to remove the paint. This stuff is highly toxic , so make sure you have alot of ventalation, use thick rubber gloves as it will burn the skin, and brush it on in one direction for best results. then scrape off with a putty knife. Then you can wipe each panel down with some lacquer thinner, then sand panels with 150-180 grit.
Tape off the body seams , so you dont let the stripper run into the jambs!!!! Or remove panels and lay on saw horses .

The use PPG's DPLF epoxy Sealer. comes in several colors , black, gray, gray-green,white, red oxyide, light blue.
You can lightly sand ( when dry)the DPLF and apply your body filler over it .

There is no paint on it at all,,,so I should use 150-180 grit, tack it off,,and shoot it with the DPLF?

Buz it with some 180 and then wipe panels with wax and grease remover and spray DPLF .

I didnt know it was to raw metal .

Yeah,,check out my gallery. The metal is very straight. Thanks a ton for your help,,,and keep an eye out for me on here,,,,once I complete these steps,,,I will most likely need some more direction!!:D
