Painting over Chrome
Ok guys, what is the best way to paint over chrome? I know stripping or sandblasting is the best way, but is there any other suggestion about doing this. Right now this is just a quick fix and something to last till winter. I can't get the wheels I need for my 61 buick for a while so I have some chrome reverse wheels that I wanted to use for now. This is a old school look if your interested.

Found my answer. House of Colors makes a product called AP01 that is a 2 part process and sells about $32 a quart. The idea of this is to use over chrome and the chrome does not have to be sanded. After the AP01 is applied then you can paint the chrome.

Like Pat said... D/A it real good, wash it with metal etch and and shoot it with self-etching primer. I have been doing it this way for years on bumpers with no problems...
