I'll start this off by saying that I am biased.... Yes there are other photo editing programs that are out there and some cost and some are free. But with any of those solutions you have a LARGE learning curve. What we wanted to do was to take the learning curve and make it about and hour and give you very realistic results. I have included and example of a truck that was painted based on the software. The gentleman is an NSRA rep and used the software to pick his graphics and color combinations. I know that this gentleman was very happy to have software that cost $49.95 when he was spending $1000's on paint. If you have any more questions just let me know and I will be glad to help.

i like the program that HOK sells .fot the price of 49.00 thats cheap when you are spending 5 to 7 k on a paint job .
the guy that sits at the desk at shows and sells it .......... i have been told he is gay ( toad32 )!
ha, ha ,ha
So, how do you do this color stuff on a car not listed??? Most of the stuff I build, especially the Ranchero, is a one off type deal........ Also, I'm about as computer illiterate as they come.....
Dave some of the cars they have listed aren't the car. I guess they just get close. 38 chevy NOT 38 there were a few fords that were wrong too.
Well I will address the year stuff first. The differences in a 37 and 38 chevy are so small that we cannot justify the amount of work to put basically the same car in twice... just like 33-34 fords, 40-41 chevys, 46-48 fords, 46-48 chevys... see where I am going? Just too hard to get ever version of every model. Now about the one off stuff, this is where we CANNOT help. We have to convert an image of an already paint vehicle so that it just a push button interface. We have tight criteria for our starting images, which is what makes it so hard to get images, and why we only have 187 vehicles.
Denny, there are LOTS of software that can do a simple color change. Where we stand out is that we are a COLOR DESIGN software. You don't have to outline the vehicle, worry about reflections, you can just draw on the vehicle, just drag the premade shapes... that type of stuff. It does not have the power of a photo editor and thus does not have the learning curve.
Here is a video of the software so you can see the interaction... try the graphics section to see what I am talking about. Notice the reflections and shadows stay in the graphic!

If you see a color combo and design that looks great on a body style similar to your own, even with minor adjustments for use on your car, you should be able to produce a similarly successful scheme.Quote:

Is there a way to use these programs on a digital picture of the car??? Can't really find a body style similar to mine.... Or am I just better off getting someone artistic to do it???? Going to be quite awhile til I'm ready for any paint, but I would like to see what some of my ideas would look like...
Thanks Denny, next time I get the Ranchero out where I can get a picture of it, I'll let ya know and see if you can do me any good on it. Right now it's on the chassis table to finish up the frame, cage, and suspension. Now if I can just find the time to get back on it sometime!!!!!!!
