If you lower the contour of the metal by beating it down with a haMMER wont you have high spots to deal with? Basically a dent is not just a "LOW" spot but a low spot surrounded by a circular "HIGH" spot like a ring because the metal that was displaced by the hammer has to go somewhere right? So if you smash down an area to fill with bondo you still have to get rid of the high spot.. Right? I recently witnessed a guy bring his 55 ford sunliner conv to have some "BUBBLING" around the rear wheel wells taken care off. This car was beautiful salmon& white two-tone. Well after grinding down the "bubbling" paint we found the previous repairman( I use the term loosely) filled the qtrs with bondo 1 inch thick.ONE INCH. They must have used 5 gallons one the whole car.The owner was devastated! He decided to have the whole car undergo a frame-off to do it right. What a shame! MIKE
