Spray bomb dupli-color............anyone have anything to say about this stuff,good or bad ?
Seems to be decent paint,it sayes its Acrylic enamel automotive paint.Sprays on good and seems to lay flat........From what I have sprayed ,it seems to smell and spray just like regular auto paint.......is it ?
97 cent stuff from Walmart is good... why pay more?
Duplicolor has a new ready-to-spray primer/base/clear lacquer-based system. No idea how well it works.
I don't know how well it works either. I know of people who have done engine compartments with Wal Mart (97 cent cans) paint and they prepped the compartment and sanded it like they would a regular auto paint job and it held up for a long time believe it or not.
As far as the spray can stuff I don't know. SEM and such places make paints for interior and engine compartments and it seems to be pretty good. I'd like to know this one myself.
I used dupli-color on my interior. It was puke green. I turned it to semi-gloss black with red trim. Even did the carpet with the upholstry spray. Came out very nice with no runs or chipping. It does smell strong. Got a little high doing the headliner. But I have gotten alot of compliments on the finished job.
Years ago I had a Cadillac and the seats were fading out (black nylon) So I redid them with Duplicolor Fabric spray. Right after that my boss came to town and we made sales calls together. He had on a light colored suit, and when he got out of my car at one stop his entire backside was black, from his neck to his ankles. ! :eek: I was too scared to say anything to him, so I just kept my mouth shut. He went through the entire day like that, and when I put him on a plane that night he still didn't know. :LOL: :LOL:
After that I scrubbed and scrubbed, but the darned stuff still kept rubbing off.

That little story is why I would probably never use any type of fabric or vinyl colorer. The fear of failure would just be too much for me.:LOL:
I've used the Duli-Color self-etching primer, sprayed well (I like the fan nozzles) and strong as it resisted a screwdriver scrape after 24 hours.
The cheap stuff (yellow label, black paint) from AutoZone wipes off with a terry cloth towel.
dupli color is awsome, havn't used the paint shop ( the laquer base clear system ) but the cans, there great. high heat aluminum as a base coat under the metalcast paints looks awsome. mu power by ford valvecover was done red that way by me, now it's almost 50% boiled off from my fuel fountian that my carburator produced for me ( float was upside down, my fault ), I still get complimented by it's deep appearence.
Hopefully you're talking under the hood or the frame rails or something....and not rattle canning the whole truck.....Quote:

The dupli bomb is real acrylic enamal car paint,I just cant fog out the neighborhood with a full blown paint job,I have the tools,just nowhere to do it at and there is no money to rent a booth.
Its bomb it or let it rust like a rat in primer ,which I just cant justify doing.Soo its acrylic enamel bomb untill future funds and time permit a real paint job.
I have shot almost every type of bomb now and this dupli is 10 times the bomb as the rest are ,its a good quality paint in a bomb.
I color/ wet sanded the laquer bomb and it looked real good,I am hoping that I can wet sand the acrylic enamel like the laquer did?
Can you not go to home depot and buy that big roll of clear sheeting that is pretty thick and make a thing comming off the roof over the garage and staple it up, put some fans going out and one in and buy those little filters and tape them over the fan to help filter it out some. Probably could build one with about 150 bucks and either buy or get a neighbor to lend you a fan or two. Might not be as easy as renting a spray booth but cheaper and the paint will last longer than the spray bomb would.
Also spray it at about 2:00 Am and no neighbors will ever know.Quote:

I will post some more pics,I have had a few people come over already and say they cant believe the results from the bomb,one guy was even a painter and stated that was regular car paint in a spray bomb.

Indeed,,,if your a 'bomb' user,fan spray is the only way! Before I went to gun and compressor I could use them in the dark and look great,seriously.BUT,,,,spray some metal(bare) with this system and leave it out in the elements,on the ground,for a few years to see if it's worth the effort.Has anyone else done this? Here where I live we go from below zero with snow/ice to all day sun and around 100 deg. in the summer.Quote:

Its 100 percent laquer system on the shelves in cali,laquer primer /laquer base , and laquer clear coat. :eek:
Do it with the spray cans, it will protect the body and if you take some time spraying this stuff it will look better than some wanttobes paint work with proper equipment. I think thier cans have a spray pattern, which will make the application easier. Just remember try to get a 50% overlap and keep a consistant distance from the surface. Can't wait to see the pics.
