Lacquer puts out more VOC's then the new style paints FYI & is just as dangerous !
Lacquer also takes more material as it requires more thinner for application- 150% reduction ( at least it used to be in the old days ) .
therefore piss thin coats , making for multiple coats/ material for coverage .
It is easier to spray and use , but take a ton of elbow grease to make shinny .
I hated lacquer even when I sprayed it 25-30 years ago ! Base Coat / Clear coat is the way to go !!
If it helps...Lacquer will go over catalyzed urethane primer, or over the old alkyd enamel primer after it is well-dried.
i used enamel primer last week. it should be dry as my garage is 130 degrees for the past 3 days. heat index here of 110 until wednesday. :eek:
